So, let me pose this questoin to the board.....

The playoffs first round are scheduled 12/20 (one game) and 12/21 (three games).

More than likely, PSU should get a home playoff game (unless PSU pulls a 1999 season ending 0 for three) The last game is 11/30 at home vs Maryland.

Would you prefer PSU play a Friday night game on 12/20 (assume an SEC team), or would you rather a 12 noon game on 12/21 (also assume an SEC team)?

I think a night game on Friday would be great. It would not compete with anything else (I don't think the top 20 men's hoops are playing on a Friday, and the NFL has not resorted to Friday games at that time). Also pretty sure HS football is done.

Edit - just checked the NFL schedule. If your are a fan of the Steelers, Ravens, Chiefs, or Texans, it is feasible that if PSU gets a Sat game, you would have to split your time between watching your favorite NFL team and the Nittany Lions. Houston and KC are at 1 PM and Pittsburgh and Baltimore are at 430. Also, PSU men's hoops plays at Drexel on 12/21 at 12 noon.
The 21st (Which is Joe Pa's Birthday).

I think it's an easy call as well, but I can also tell you that people I know who have season tix (and should get tix for this game) are dreading the thought of trying to get up to SC after working to make it for an 8 PM kickoff. Having a 12 noon kick makes it easier for their travel logistics. But, they have nearly a month to work it out, I suppose.
You certainly make a good point... students are already gone as well. I would head up for the game but i am getting my second hip replaced 12/4

Without the now antiquated "rules", PSU's history would look much different.

* Undefeated means something regardless of schedule as long as it's passable
* First to lose, first to get in line to rise

You ever find a pool table?
Moms says no pool table til I finish painting. Got 15 more hours😒

Email for playoff tickets sent and we put in for ours. Reasonable prices too for our section, EJ, $206/ticket. Have to buy all the tix in the allotment tho and parking could be affected by weather and lot conditions. I would hope for a Friday game because if it is 12/21, I won’t make it due to a family Christmas party. 😡😩

I'll buy 'em for Saturday! I have a feeling we'll get the noon or 4 PM slot. I suspect the NCAA will want anyone hosting up north to get a day game so it's less cold, and Fri logistics for getting to state college for many can be a mess so PSU may ask to not be given that time slot.

The 4 pm slot will not be a day game. In Dec. that will look like 8:00 now.

First of all, the NCAA has ZERO to do with the playoff. Secondly, temperatures and travel logistics will have ZERO to do with date and time of game.

Everything will be determined by the TV execs based upon maximizing eyeballs (profits).
