What a couple of nights at the US Open on the men's side...both Alcaraz and Djokovic go down, and the men's draw has completely opened up. The last US man to make a major final was Roddick at Wimbledon in 2009. There is really an opportunity there in the bottom half of the draw for one of our guys to make a run, with 3 guys left of the 8. Nakashima is a dog against Zverev, but Fritz and Tiafoe both have a great opportunity.

Wow, I didn't catch the Djokovic loss! Yeah I'm pulling for Tiafoe. The guys energy is infectious. On the women's side I'm pulling for Jess Pegula. Long shot though. Also Karolina Muchova. Great serve and no other woman plays the serve volley game like her. Had been to the open past 3 yrs and am really missing it this year. Incredible event in person.

Yea, I last went the day after we played Syracuse in the Meadowlands in Hack's freshman year. I really need to get back up for it, and planning to go next year (turned down a last minute ticket this past Tuesday and kinda kicking myself for not making it work). It's such a great sporting event to see (I spend almost no time in Ashe as I love the outer courts so much).

Outer courts are awesome. Especially court 17, if you can get in. Generally the 4th biggest match going at that time. I saw Gael Monfils play there and his serves just reverberated through out the court. He was so cool, joking around with people and the officials. I definitely try to get to his matches when there.

Popyrin was fantastic last night. What a match.

Any bets? I'm tailing a tennis guy and have had a very nice open so far.

No, I don’t cap tennis at all…watch the majors and loosely follow it the rest of the year, but not nearly enough to cap it successfully.

So happy Djoker is out; at some point he’ll be exposed for doping IMO. No favorites on the men’s side - should be fun to watch though. Wozniacki is still in it and I have had a crush on her forever - would love to see her make a deep run.

I just learned about the signature drink they recently introduced, the Honey Duece. They are trying to compete with the Pimm’s Cup and Mint Julep.

Vodka, lemonade, chambord, garnished with three honey dew balls 🎾.

At $23 a pop, they sold almost $10M of them last year.

We made some and they’re pretty good; Black Eyed Susan still (Preakness) my favorite sports event signature cocktail though.

Unfortunately Caroline is out. Beatriz hadad came thru in the end with some nice play at the net. She's a double specialist and was something like 15-18 net points won. Wow. Next up she plays muchova. I'm picking karolina. Men's side, I think sinner beats Paul. Draper looking good and deminauer is on the cusp of a major.

So happy that Tiafoe looks like he'll close this one out...but not how you want to see it end.

The last time the US had two semi-finalist in both men's and women's draw was 2003. With Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi, and Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriatti. Andy eventually won it on the men's side while Justing Henin won the women's.

Pegula to the final of the US Open so there’ll be an American in both the men’s and women’s finals. It’s been a while
Pegula's match last night was really entertaining and satisfying. In the quarter final she looked awesome. Last night she started off terrible; dropped 1st set 6-1 and was quickly down in 2nd set 2-0. In the third game she was facing a break point and made a crazy lob shot to avoid the break. And suddenly, she found her confidence, won the game, and outplayed her apponant to win the 2nd and 3rd sets!

I find it crazy that Tiafoe is hanging around +250 to win tonight (+248 at Pinny). I'd think it's a much more even matchup than that.

Playing on back to back nights (and against the world #1) is tough; wonder why it ended up that way? The men get a break.

Always goes that way...they split halfs of the draw for the first week and a half, but then once they get to the semis, the women play the 1st night and the men the 2nd, so that everyone gets a day off between semi and final. You're always playing a player coming off the same amount of rest every round, unless there is a weather delay.

Back in the day, they used to hold the men's semis until Saturday, and it was always an amazing day of tennis with the women's final and both men's semis.

Didn’t happen for her but making a final is a big step. I read Sabalenka had the highest average forehand speed in the tournament (for both men and women - better than Alcaraz, Djokovic, and Sinner). She’s tough.
Jess probably played the best I've ever seen her play. Sabalenka does hit with incredible power. I just can't stand her whiney neediness out there. Kind of reminds me of a female Kyrigios.

Nice run by Jessica, but Sabalenka was just too good. She really punished Pegula for missing a first serve, and retook momentum late in each set when it looked like it was slipping away. Great crowd…very pro-Pegula as you’d expect, but also gave lots of respect to Sabalenka.
