Just a thought. At some point they are going to have to have enough confidence in the program to start playing qualifiers in stadiums that are destination worthy. They are doing squat to increase their fan base. We would consider traveling to a home match qualifier if it wasn’t Columbus, Denver, Kansas City in the winter.

The March 27th qualifying match against Panama will be played in Exploria Stadium, in Orlando, FL

Yeah, A couple of guys on here and over in the Den are going. Wish I could. I am going to be in SF that weekend visiting my youngest one last time before he moves to Santa Fe. Once he moves, it’s no more In N Out Burger again for the big guy.

Wish they came to Philly for these qualifiers. I would definitely be interested in making that trip.

Good win, Honduras is an awful team.

Yeah they are. In the post match interview, they asked Berhalter if this was their best performance so far and you could tell he really wanted to say Honduras is trash. He tip toed around it, but the look he gave as like, 'come on now.'

For those still pretty concerned with qualifying, keep in mind that Honduras would be favored tomorrow over whoever comes out of Oceania and meets the 4th place team from Concacaf…it’s a series we want to avoid, but it’s a tremendous draw for our region.

Not a soccer fan but ran into this today. Honduras not happy with playing in Minnesota in February-

I can't say I blame them. Then again, I doubt the American players were all that happy playing in those conditions.

The thing we must be cautious about with that is how it will be a one-off playoff in Qatar (instead of a home-and-home), and anything can happen in just one game. We will need results next window.

Yeah, if I was the coach of Honduras, I would track down Berkhalter and punch him in the mouth. This could have and should have been avoided.

And maybe if Honduras spent more time on player development and coaching instead of whining about the conditions (that both teams had to endure), they wouldn't be sitting at the bottom of the table. This isn't a case where one team at the visiting hotel had food poisoning from bad pizza or no sleep the night before because someone kept pulling the fire alarm. I didn't see the 49ers crying a river when they had to play in frigid Lambeau Field.

Avoided? I hope it continues…the conditions contributed to an already underwhelming Honduras squad to completely mail it in. Not to mention the travel advantages and fan support.

Obviously we want to avoid it…but Oceania is really bad right now. New Zealand is the favorite, and they’re basically Chris Wood and then bunch of guys that wouldn’t sniff our squad. I’ll be shocked if Concacaf doesn’t end up with 4 in Qatar .

I do believe whoever the Concacaf representative is will have the advantage, but I certainly hope we automatically qualify because I think there's a chance that whoever qualifies out of the IC playoff might be placed in a lower pot when they draw the groups. We want to be in Pot 2 if we can.

No, this just screams punk and insecure which is the USMNT head coach.

Does it scream punk and insecure when Mexico schedules us at Azteca in the afternoon with heat/smog/altitude, Bolivia makes people play them at elevation, etc? Why would we not try creating the best home field advantage possible, especially when it meshes perfectly with our travel schedule?

We are not them and we don’t need to be. But I do acknowledge, this is all to common in International soccer.

Maybe we should hand out signs at the Whiteout urging people to be quiet and respectful when Ohio State has the ball. Yelling is so punk and insecure.

well this sucks

HUGE LOSS. I'm worried guys. At Mexico and at Costa Rica. They have to beat Panama at home. That was always a must, but McKennie was their best player throughout the qualifying. I still think they'll finish fourth, worst case scenario, but this isn't good.

It is clear that McKennie's form has been the highest of all USMNT players recently in qualifying. This will obviously disrupt the MMA midfield. While he doesn't play the same position as Weston, Gio Reyna's hopeful return to the USMNT will help mitigate the loss of McKennie's quality on the pitch. I think it still remains, however, that the most important player in MMA midfield for the team's success is Tyler Adams. As long as he is healthy and playing, we still have a decent shot against our Concacaf opponents.

This has come at such a bad time for McKennie's career, as well. He has really established himself as an important player at Juve, but this will only allow for his competition within the club to impress the manager for an extended period of time.

I'll be in Orlando for the Panama match and I pray we can pull it off. Reyna needs to get healthy fast and hopefully Adams, Acosta, and Musah can get the job done in the middle of the pitch.

It feels guaranteed that Berhalter will opt to replace McKennie with Acosta, which will mean a lot less of an offensive threat from our midfield. Given that we struggle to create chances for the forwards to begin with, this is a concern. He can play a decent dead-ball, though. So, there's that.

To be fair Acosta has been good cleaning up messes though, really good. With Adams already there, maybe he does go with Musah who does drive forward and take people on.

Adams is the mess-cleaner and is class at it. Acosta does bring that ability, but we are talking about replacing the box-to-box midfielder (Weston) who has the ability to score goals for us. Unfortunately, Acosta's skill set does not do much to help replace that. Instead, he's more of a 6 when we already have a 6 on the pitch. In addition, his technical ability on the ball concerns me at times. I'd rather see De La Torre be given another shot; or, maybe do something creative with Aaronson and Reyna (assuming he will be fit) to try to make up for what we lose with McKennie out of the lineup.

I also hope that Berhalter does not rule out a midfielder who has been starting consistently in Serie A this season (Busio).

It’s not often that I’d be fine with our 3rd option…but I’m fine with Horvath.
