Sadly, two of the teams we need to beat to get to the NC have better odds than we do. Maybe this is the year!?!

I just read an article where someone asked Joel Klatt if PSU would win a title in the next decade or so and he said empathically "no".

Not Elite enough. Can I complain that we lost to OSU and Michigan already in the 2023 season? +600 and +750 and we're a lowly +1700? We didnt even put a fight! I deserve better.

This may be the article. Klatt said that a team has to have 4 straight top 5 recruiting classes to win a natty, which runs contrary to the blue chip ratio (more than 50 percent of the roster are 4 and 5 star players) as being a determiner of who can win one. The article disagrees with Klatt's assessment. It says that Clemson, LSU and Ohio State did it without meeting Klatt's criteria. However, Clemson and LSU won with a great QB. If I recall correctly, going back further, Auburn and Florida State won nattys and didn't fit Klatt's criteria or the blue chip ratio.

In reality, barring crazy amounts of injuries, our ability to be "elite" will rest almost solely on the shoulders of Allar. If he matures quickly, we should be right there. +1700 odds seems a worthwhile bet, for fun, if you're a PSU homer.

Agree, like Lawrence and Burrow.

Did he predict what TCU would do this past year? Unless Joel Klatt personally hands out National Championships, his opinion is just that.

Why, when I re-read that, does it sound, what’s the word…pissy?

Valid question.

Okay, let's put the shoe on the other foot. How does PSU, without a series of top 5 recruiting classes, win a national championship in the next ten years? The explanation has to fit into a 30 second soundbite.

Let's turn that on it's head instead. Penn State gets that series of top five recruiting classes simply by paying more NIL money then it's competitors. With the number of ultra smart and ultra successful posters on this board raising the money will be easy. Pretty much everyone who posts here is at least a millionaire, and several are no doubt multi-billionaires.

Okay, so there is no reason why PSU will not win a national championship in the next ten years. End of discussion.
