Was sending him home the right call?

Hell yeah. My question is why did we pinch hit for Skinner? Can he not bunt at all?

10 times out of 10 it’s the right call, especially with our 9 hole hitter up next. It took a perfect throw to get him and Auburn made it, just tip your hat to their LF.

If I were Cheese I would have sent him too. Don’t blame him at all (especially with Leggett on deck behind Cumbest).

It was right. Took a great play to throw him out, along with help from the 3B running in front of him at third. Not like we could string hits together. I'd say we used the wrong pinch runner if anything but that's knit-picking at best.

Yep it’s the right call. You got the hit you needed. It took a great throw from auburn and he made it. It sucks but hard to fault anyone there. Just tip your cap on a good play by the LF and catcher for getting the tag down.

Sending him was the right call. Just a perfect throw. Would Davis have been a better PR option? I don’t know but that was the only questionable decision.

Yep, sending him was the right call. He needed to be just a little bit faster.

2 outs, B9, down 1, runner on 2nd, you are sending the runner on 2nd every time for anything to the outfield. I don’t care if it’s John Kruk on 2nd base and Willie Mays is the LF….you still have to try and score there no matter what. Baseball 101.

Another question, why wasn't the gold glover the defensive replacement so Skinner would be available to PR.

And another question, why didn't Kohn come in last night with the big lead so Hunt could have been available today.

Running Pj out there in the 8th cost us todays game.

So it's late (or actually early morning now) but what happened to never make the last out of the inning at 3rd base, and whatever you do don't ever make it at home, EVER? That wasn't even a deep ball to LF.

I did not think it was hit deep enough in LF, either. I was yelling at the TV, “don’t send him!”

I think it’s don’t make the third out at home if you’re down more than one run. That was likely our best chance to score with 2 outs. Unfortunately with Cumbest he hits lasers to LF. I thought it looked like he wouldn’t have a chance but ended up much closer than I expected.

Now Hancock getting gunned earlier in the game at 3rd… that was bad.

That was extremely bad. Took the bat out of Hines hands with 2 runners on after He had already homered off that pitcher. There is no way to measure how many runs a base running error ends up costing you.

The odds that guy was gonna make an errant throw are greater than the odds we were going to get another hit

That has never been a thing. With 2 outs, the percentage play is to send the runner if it's going to be a close play at all. Cause you've only got about a 30% chance of scoring him if you leave him on 3rd for the next batter. You don't make the 1st or 3rd out at 3rd, but with 2 outs you send the runner unless it's a fairly routine play to throw him out. You definitely don't want to ever make the 1st or 2nd out at home though.

A Germantown High (from Gluckstadt) player for Burn threw out a Germantown High player for MSU at the plate to end the game. They used to be teammates at GHS.
