I’m more of a masculine, sporty, or diver style watch guy, but was thinking about adding a nice classic leather band dress watch. I found a couple styles of Frederique Constant that I like, but am not familiar with the brand. Anyone have any input? Link for example.

Frederic Constant is an excellent watch and generally a good value for the money. I would put them in the same mid luxury class with Hamilton, Tissot, Doxa, Edox, Mido, and some of the other nice Swiss made time pieces. If you can find a model with the features that you like priced below $1,000, I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on one. Another watch that’s recently caught my eye is the Rado Captain Cook model. Good luck. Watch collecting is easily addicting.

Sure, the Swiss make a fancy piece of wrist jewelry, but the Japanese make something much more practical.

Well, Swiss-made automatic movement, sapphire crystal, what looks like reptile leather on the strap, nice clean face and case, I would rock it.

A lot of my friends are into American brand Shinola - similar price points and made in Detroit.

I know a guy who made straps for them when they first hit the market. They sold some very nice pieces.

" Largo Tan leather straps" yep, checks out. That was a fun audit. All the colored gator skins hanging around were unnerving.

Shinola at 47mm is awfully large. For a real nice USA made watch look into the Brooklyn Watch Company. They make some nice automatic watch movement watches with a see through back and use a Brooklyn Bridge logo. Here is a pretty attractive quartz version available on Amazon for only about $55. I believe the automatic movements run around $100-$200 or so, I’m wearing one now. Their models are named after NY neighborhoods or landmarks. The movement is Swiss, but the company which assembles them is located in Brooklyn, NY. Btw - just Google them - most of their models have leather bands if your looking for something dressier as you stated.
Founded by a group of Brooklyn-based watch enthusiasts and highly experienced watch retailers, the Brooklyn Watch Company began manufacturing men's watches in 2012. These watches were designed with the discriminating man in mind, with the intent of complementing this modern man's big and bold lifestyle. Drawing from the cues, aesthetics and styles of the world's greatest city and loudest borough, Brooklyn Watch Company is the newest player in the world of fashionable timepieces. Initially, Brooklyn Watch Company offers two core styles of timepieces, crafted in a delectable medley of colors and substyles. These watches offer a number of desirable features, including sapphire crystal, high water resistance, Swiss movements, brushed stainless steel cases and superior leather bands. Other details include a uniquely embossed back, crown and logo that pay tribute to the great city of Brooklyn, NY. Today, our watches are sold by a number of retailers and are still made with customer satisfaction in mind - that is why each and every Brooklyn Watch comes with a full, two-year international manufacturer warranty. And in the future, you can expect to see these and newer models and editions of Brooklyn Watches on shelves at your local Swiss timepiece retailer.

I would look at Cartier. They make a beautiful leather band watch. The rectangle seems to accent the leather band more than any other shape their's is stunning.
