We learn a lot about CJF this offseason. Lots of soul searching to do to right a program that has taken a big step back the last two years.

I think CJF is the right guy for PSU. Having said that I think some major changes need to be made on the offensive side of the ball. We have become a finesse offense and that doesn't play well in the B1G. Explosive plays have become too much of a focus. We need to really work on establishing a run game and a short passing game. The explosive plays will happen naturally as the Linebackers and Safeties cheat up to help out with the run game. First though, they have to respect the run game.

It needs to start now in the weight room and in the Spring with a focus on re-establishing a commitment to the run game.

I agree that Franklin is politically astute, very very aware and focused on his public image. He is likeable and articulate and can impress recruits and their familiies.

What is becoming apparent unfortunately is he is much better at administrative and strategic issues than the actual job of coaching a football team. If you had a structure where he was the CEO of the football program but not in charge of coaching and there was a different head football coach that could make sense. Not sure where recruiting falls in that scenario but you get my point. He just is not good at X and Os or developing talent. He can't in-game coach well and he can't prepare a team well.

The state of the Penn State program is precarious. Franklin does not seem to have answers and it starts with him coming up empty with developing an O-Line. What is going to change? We have slipped dramatically the last 2 years and now it appears if we only lose 3 games a year it is reason to celebrate.
Yep. In replacing Pry, Franklin stated he's looking for a "head coach of defense". I'd take that mentality a step further and have him find a "head coach of offense". He's a great organizer, motivator and recruiter. But problems on offense have persisted across multiple offensive coordinators. I'm actually worried that Pry was his right hand man and confidant. If defensive coaching loses stability and becomes a revolving door like the offense has we have some dark years ahead. Franklin may not be on the hot seat, but the program may be.

I am still on CJF's side. I'm giving him until the end of the '23 season to get this turned around. In my estimation, CJF has two seasons to win 18 regular season games. If he does not do that then, restructure his contract like the Mets did with Bobby Bonilla and pay him to leave. At least to me it has become painfully obvious that CJF has reached his ceiling here. The assistant coaches are leaving in droves. It just does not appear to be a good situation.

Asst coaches aren’t leaving in droves. We lost two which is probably the yearly average in college football. One left for a very good HC job. Drama

What is really funny here is that most people who know the least always have the most to say. So much chronic complaining and not a whole lot of critical thinking. It’s so indicative of the what have you done for me lately crowd, instead of what have you done throughout. Drama queens with short memories and a bunch of narcissistic tendencies.

"restructure his contract"?
Seriously? How does one do that - after already guaranteeing him the full $85 million?

Hazel left for a promotion, Galt retired. People DO retire, he's not a spring chicken. Stop trying to force a narrative that's not there.
I believe Galt’s son is taking over. Everyone in the program knew of his retirement. Check that. Not happening.

No, his son was with Ricky Rahne at ODU and just took the head S&C job at Va. Tech with Pry.
