I thought the free Violent Femms concert on the HUB lawn at an Arts Fest was one of the best concerts I'd seen at PSU well that and any performance by Queen B at Cafe 210.

Man the VFs... Chicks would have been going nuts for that. RUN-DMC was hub lawn arts fest joint.

I performed many times at Cafe 210. I made many hundreds of beautiful sandwiches and burritos during my time there.

Sunday (1/29) is the birthday of the late, great James Jamerson. He played bass on most of the Motown classics, and is considered by many as the best bassist of all time. To celebrate:

When I saw this song live in Philly '98 it really felt like hearing new Led Zeppelin music. It was so devastatingly awesome.

And here is that actual performance, the sound is not the best but I like to support my assertions with proof when possible.

Did you see them at the Spectrum in '95? I was there. Soo many great memories made with my brother. Soo much energy all night long. They opened with The Wanton Song right into Bring It On Home. Total Bedlam.

Unfortunately no, I wasn't able to get out over to Philly for that one. I was barely able to get into 1998, I had seats behind the stage. Being the biggest Led Zeppelin fan in the room did not convey any extra treatment. But Jimmy and Robert understood and played a special 2nd encore of Thank You that night, which they didn't do any other nights. Or maybe once or twice but it was really rare. And awe-inspiring. Check the tape in my above post.

Bring It On Home is so awesome live. When Jimmy played with the Black Crowes, that wasn't on the album, but they played it live in Camden and it was a showstopper. Here is the tape for that one. I'm on a roll today. This was a top 5 concert in my life, probably better than the P&P show. I know I was more hype.

Love this song, video, and album. This came out after I graduated and I remember going through an "evolution" with this song. The video got me going first. That was the version including the flute calls at the beginning and the "swish, swish" outro. I WANTED that version but the album version only had either the intro or the outro, can't remember which, while the version on Gabriel's "Golden Greats" hits compilation (I believe) had whatever the other one didn't. By that time I had a CD player and I spent a small amount of time splicing together the version I wanted (on tape I believe) and I was quite proud of it. It was only much later that Gabriel released his "CV" video compilation (I think I had or rented the laserdisc version) which had the video version that I wanted. Gabriel's PLAY video compilation DVD also has the video, and that's the version I always play now, having taken the audio off the DVD. "So" also included "In Your Eyes" which is an incredibly beautiful and very "adult" love song. Speaking of which...

Just for you from the album they toured when I saw them at Rec Hall! 😂😂😂😂😂

Love this song. It was getting airplay when I was at Penn State (and also when I was a bit "hung up" on a young lady...thanks for rejecting me, darlin', took me about 20 more years but I found the love of my life and am looking forward to us enjoying our golden years now!). I still like this song although my adoration of it has mellowed a bit over time.

Speaking of love songs, Billy Joel's "A Matter Of Trust" is a really great song. However, I only like the specific version on Joel's "Blue" Laserdisc, which includes crowd chatter and specifically an old lady yelling, "SHUTTT UPPP!" Funny how certain versions of songs are the ones that "grab" you!

Music was definetely better then. So was my opportunities to enjoy time with the female form. ;)
Went to see Billy on Big Shot tour. Drove from PSU to the Spectrum. Fist fight between roommates on way down. Up in the cheap seats. Went down to the stage and talked my way through security with some BS story about seeing my gf in the front row. Threw my PSU painters hat thst I wore to games on stage and Billy put it on while he strutted around on Big Shot. Sooo freaking coool. Went back to my seat with a huge smile.
