Friday (2/10) was the birthday of Jimmy Merchant. He was a co-founder of The Teenagers, which is more commonly known as Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers. To celebrate, a song that he co-wrote, which the group is most known for (and one which @fairgambit and Mrs. Fair were known to cut up the rug to):

Ah yes, we do love that song, but I rarely dance to anything but ballads. Mrs. Gambit can certainly "cut up the rug" but I am only into sloooooow dancing. I tried to learn the Bristol Stomp when I was younger but got tangled up, fell over, and nearly sent 3 people to the emergency room.
As a sad aside, Frankie Lymon, a great talent, died in 1968, at age 25, of a heroin overdose.

Sunday (2/12) is the birthday of the late, great Ray Manzarek. He was the organist in The Doors. To celebrate, their most popular song, where his intro is well known:

There is an interesting back story to this performance. Ed Sullivan and the CBS censors wanted to change the line "we couldn't get much higher" and The Doors reluctantly agreed to the very antiseptic revision --- until, during the actual live performance, they
went right back to the original lyrics. Some felt that Jim Morrison even gave the word "higher" some added emphasis.
