Well, the global population of Dire Wolves is 3 more than it has been in 10,000 years...

Well the earth is only about 6,000 years old so I don’t believe if they can’t do math they didn’t actually resurrect a species. They just created a breed like they creat new breeds of dogs.

Dude, the last president was at least 5,000 years old.
Current one is older.

Biden birth 11-20-1942 - Four years later, Trump Birth 6-14-1946. They both are too old, Biden definitely had diminished capacity by the end of his term and I fully expect Trump to do the same. But...Trump never made any sense, how will be able to tell when he can't think properly? I mean he once said in the presidential debate vs Biden that Democrats wanted to legalize post birth abortions. Seriously? Post birth abortions? Wow.

We’re talking about wolves and dinosaurs. You deserve to be eaten by both for attempting to ruin a great topic.

I want to watch you skin it.
Clearly you have to skin it on the ground like an elk or moose. However, instead of cutting it up with a knife and small hand axe, I think you’re going to have to go the chain saw route. Should be effective, but a bit messy. šŸ˜†

You can't even make a throwaway joke that shouldn't offend anybody around some of you idiots.

You are a complete Craftsman set of TOOLS.

That means kill the baby or allow it to die on its on after birth. Just in case you didn't understand what that means. You could probly get Ralph Northam to explain it to you. And as far as the Dire wolf goes just what percentage of Grey wolf DNA do they contain ? Be interesting to see how they turn out that's for sure

I want to look up in the sky and see a pterasaur one day. I've seen a couple of bald eagles before, and they looked like B-52s. I can't imagine what a pteranodon with a 25-foot wingspan would look like.
It's all fun and games till one drops a turd on you from 500 feet while you're going 75 down the interstate. Not going to be a pretty sight. Especially if you're on a 2-wheeler.

We can't cure cancer or Alzheimer's or provide a world changing weight loss drug to the masses at a reasonable price, but we can create an extinct wolf- priorities!

I get your point, but I suspect the work they're doing in gene editing is going to be important for things other than simply de-extincting animals.

Creating Dire Wolves has nothing to do with curing disease. They can already clone humans.
Its like a lot of things, wasteful.

The truth is they have not created dire wolves. These are Grey wolves with genetic modifications to give them white coats. Which is an assumption that Dire wolves actually even were white. They contain exactly zero dire wolves genes. They did not live or there is no evidence they live in northern climates. Wild animals not living in snowy areas are not naturally white. Dire wolves are more closely related to jackals than Grey wolves

If you just want to be obstinate, it's your right. You basically read the first negative article that pops up in a search (written by a girl with a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's in "science communication"), and kinda repeated some of what she wrote, not very accurately.

They went extinct during the last ice age. The fossils used in recreating the Dire Wolf genome were 13,000 and 72,000 years old found in Idaho and Ohio. The last glacial maximum was around 27,000 years ago with ice sheets covering Canada and well into what us now the northern US. So obviously many of them lived in cold, white areas.

They did more than make a gray wolf with a white coat. If you're interested you can figure that out for yourself.

I don't disagree that they didn't exactly create a Dire Wolf. I think the point is what they did is incredible and you should probably be interested in it, which is what they were trying to create. Interest.

Here is Colossal's "Chief Animal Officer" on the MeatEater podcast about 9 months ago. If interested, a lot of good info on what they're doing and why. Actual discussion starts about 9 minutes in...
