The particular play you mentioned was really iffy, IMO. If you want to legitimately point to one the 2nd time Reed took his helmet off on a play he had nothing to do with would be the one.
Also I hate to get in the wayback machine and I fully realize Joe is revered here for his discipline (and sometimes rightly so) but I saw a lot of his players doing some pretty sketchy things. A PSU player taking out Jackie Sherrell (maybe Trey Bauer) on the sidelines comes to mind.
As for the NFL players...it's the NFL. And I have some very strong issues with Tomlin and player actions both on and off the field.
You totally missed the entire point of my post.....sorry I failed to communicate better.

BTW...I wasn't talking about Joe.....I was referring to other coaches I had or knew.

It’s just a better product. 12 minute half times. A real league with real structure. College Football wants to be the NFL but has way too many matchups that are meaningless. The Big Ten and the SEC want to break away to form their own situation similar to the NFL.

Even with expanded playoffs college football still has a beauty pageant element that is undeniable.

The NFL is by far the best league going. Baseball, EPL, etc. have flaws with payroll structure though they have deep development leagues which are compelling.

Watching Penn State play Kent State hardly moves the needle.

College football needs to determine what it wants to be and needs to make the necessary changes quickly.
Bears vs. Bucs.........Titans vs. Jaguars......Jets vs. Patriots etc. etc. Talk about meaningless matchups.

Sure is.....and I think you have to add in Colorado vs Kansas, Ole Miss vs. Florida.

Bears vs. Bucs.........Titans vs. Jaguars......Jets vs. Patriots etc. etc. Talk about meaningless matchups.
Yeah, last nights game on paper was meaningless as well. Until it wasn’t.

having attended every Penn State game this season except West Virginia and Kent State ( oh what a disappointment ) the four that stick out were Illinois, USC, Wisconsin and Ohio State. They were entertaining And for the most part competitive. The rest completely forgettable.

From an extra curricular aspect, the Wisconsin Band and the Purdue Band were two of the best bands Tgar has ever watched. They were both great and watching the Band Director retire at Purdue was a great reminder of what it should be all about. The atmosphere in Camp Randall at night is incredible, maybe the best, and Madison is such a great trip to a place not named Chicago, LA, Minneapolis, or Iowa City ( great college town ).

The Big Ten needs to revise its scheduling mentality and go to a 10 game conference schedule and hope that some of the programs improve to ensure the top teams have a strength of schedule higher that 106 or 38 for that matter.

The players are getting paid, add in another conference game and drop one of the fluff games. The upcoming OOC schedule is embarrassing and it accounts for 25% of the season.

So is college football. You’ve got guys making a play then raising their jersey to show a gun in their pants. It’s all become a 🤡 show.
I was excoriated for calling out the Lions’ sloppiness and lack of discipline. The shirts untucked with t-shirts hanging out is a small symptom of it. Guys make a tackle or catch a pass and it becomes LOOK AT ME time. It would be more palatable if the WR made plays consistently, or the defense could get off the field with a 3 and out. But they don’t, too often.
