The “national media” was openly mocking Big Game James Franklin before the scUM game and how the local beat writers are now circling him like a school of sharks.

I don’t know if Kraft is this krafty, but the most expeditious way of ridding PSU of James Franklin is through media pressure.

James is a textbook narcissist. He craves being liked by others and cares greatly about how he is perceived in public.

I can easily see him succumbing to negative media scrutiny and wanting to negotiate a discounted buyout.

I don’t think most coaches are any different on this count. Joe was incredibly arrogant, too, and felt he was above reproach even as he was losing games to the likes of Toledo. Head coaches universally have this, “How DARE you question me? Don’t you know who the F* I am?!”-attitude. See: Dabo Swinney’s phone call with “Tyler” who dared to ask a totally legitimate question about being paid $11 million a year and having a 4-4 record.

I can’t recall a time when I’ve seen a head coach gracefully respond to legitimate scrutiny.

I once asked JayPa directly to his face (at an event with the CT Valley alumni chapter) if he could explain to me why Penn State ran such a conservative offense. His answer, in short, was that our offense wasn’t conservative, and I didn’t know what I was talking about because I’m just a fan, and not a coach.

Bro. Our offense for the final 12-or-so years under Paterno was conservative as hell.
