What's you're best selling point right now if you're a student recruiter for MSU?... The wiener dog races?..

... we've got the MSU version of The Little Rascals in the Bryan Building.
and the Bad News Bears on the field. That outfield tonight has to be the biggest joke I've seen in a long time. And the shift, that's the 2nd time that we were in an infield shift in the last 2 series and let runners advance because nobody was covering 3rd. And we had a runner half way to 3rd base tonight and he looked up and saw the runner on 3rd already had held and had to beat it back to 2nd quickly. It's just non-stop comedy

We are attracting the low academic students. I personally know one transferring in from JC with a GED and a 13 act. I’m ashamed for my school.
Happens everywhere. I personally know one, a few years ago, that went to OM for the insta dorm room pics.

Barely graduated high school. Enrolled in OM, did not go to class but the first few days. Stayed until they were kicked out for grades in December.

It’s not that far of a drive, you can use some of your nil to win more playing slots and roulette at the casino.

Seriously, during the most transformative period in the history of college athletics... as a new future is being shaped at break-neck speed... we've got the MSU version of The Little Rascals in the Bryan Building.
I know of four or five kids from around here (St Tammany Parish) who are starting school at State in the Fall. Their parents were gushing about how nice the campus is and how friendly people are there.

Honestly, it’s this sort of thing, and affordability, that are our strengths. Someone else mentioned the drive from surrounding states - that helps too. Plus, in all seriousness, even if we suck - it’s an SEC school and that brings a level of prominence.

All of you wanting MSU to be academically elite are wasting your brain cells. Worry about other things because that’s not happening. Even if we wanted to, we could not escape the MS reputation. We aren’t going to be Clemson and attract NY/NJ folks. Now, we MIGHT be able to attract Houston area folks and along the I-10 corridor from there to the Coast.

We aren't going to be Stanford but we could certainly do better than we are right now. And if we don't try to be better we certainly will not be.

It's home and it ain't Ole Miss should be a compelling sell to any in state kid with an IQ above room temperature.

No, we aren’t Stanford but we have educated people who’ve done well there.

I’d rather us be better than we are now instead of being a glorified finishing school for good ole boys and girls (and rednecks too — I can say this: I was born in the Free State of Jones)

(Ten years ago, I’d sarcasterisk the above but our academic rankings have sunk to the point where it’s not needed.)

Unfortunately, those kids are leaving the state
Not all of 'em.

A lot of 'em are though. And when you can get a full ride to Alabama while only getting 75% scholarship coverage at State, you start to understand why.

I've told the story before...my kid is at State but he has buddies that went to Alabama because they gave him a full ride. He could've gone elsewhere for more, too. My daughter had a full ride at Ole Miss but State wouldn't match it. She ended up at MC.

It's not just that kids are leaving the State - and it's really not about quality of education. It's about MSU not doing enough to keep these kids.

The only reason my kid is at State is because of me. He grew up in it, and it's home for him. But he's pretty disillusioned, too.
