SC is not in a good place right now. We took their pitching coach and then their head coach got fired. To make matters bad, they basically hired a glorified interim coach in Manieri, who may end up sticking around for awhile.
Beating them at this time is not much of an accomplishment.
yeah but even to the naked eye they dont look the part. They've lost their every day catcher, they've got 2-3 spots in their order they still are unsure of, they've got people playing out of position... they dont have 3 solid weekend starters and they've only got one dependable bullpen arm. That may all be true, but right now they have 14 losses and all of them are to Arkansas, Tennessee, Clemson, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Mississippi State. A lot of pretty good teams would not fair well against that schedule.

Different than say AM whose got some talent on their roster and still may figure it out.
sure they are going to win more than 2 of 12 going forward... but it wouldnt shock me if they finish above Mizzou is the standings and not much higher if any. They just look like they lack the talent needed to win in this leauge....All I'm saying is they're probably a better team than a casual observer would assume looking at their record. Nothing more than that. Kinda like us.

hard to be disappointed in winning 2 of 3 considering how our year as gone... but south carolina at home was a spot to sweep and turn things around.
I agree to some extent... that said I think 12 games in... the jury might still be out, buts clear with some teams what the verdict is going to be. Unless South Carolina has some injured pieces that arre about to return... their outlook looks very bleakIt's just a crazy tough league. There is only on actual bad team, Mizzou. Everybody else is either clearly an elite NC contender or juries still out, but wouldn't be surprised if they got hot and made some noise.

There’s a huge divide between #11 and #12, and another one between #15 and #16.It's just a crazy tough league. There is only on actual bad team, Mizzou. Everybody else is either clearly an elite NC contender or juries still out, but wouldn't be surprised if they got hot and made some noise.
agree... a lot like basketball... There is a distinct line b/t the haves and have notsWho have they beaten?

Think if we stick with Powell as the starter 3 of the 4 games the catching position gets adequate. As long as downs isnt ran back out there.. we are settled in every spot besides LF and 2b... whcih is fine to platoon.Wait, are you talking about USCe or MSU? We don't have a catcher, we have at least 2-3 spots we are unsure of, we've got people playing out of position(by out of position, i mean their position should be on the bench( and we don't have 3 weekend starters or a dependable bullpen.
Pretty ironic thread from the guy who led the keep Lemonis train after the 2023 debacleIs there anyone saying “where are the Lemonis haters now?” Or is this just Goat emotionally gaslighting ?
This thread is dumb
If he doesn't make a super he's gone.In actuality, this is going to be worst case scenario. Not bad enough to obviously fire with no perception hits, but definitely never going to be good enough again. So Polk 2, duh. Better buckle up, going to be a rocky few months I’m guessing the baseball coaching situation is going to go about like the football defensive coordinator situation.
But I do wonder if we have found a rotation?

One thing we agree on. Mizzou is 16th. Looking at the standings, I could see Kentucky dropping into the bottom 5, and maybe State moving to 11th. That’s about it though. They've beaten all the bad teams on their schedule and MSU and Oklahoma once each. I think you knew that. Again, I'm not trying to say they're great, just better than the record indicates with no further research.
It's not at all clear to me that the divide between 11 and 12 is huge. I doubt the 11 best teams now, however you define that, all remain in the Top 11 at seasons end. I feel confident however that Mizzou will remain 16th at seasons end.
