Sounds a little like a clip from the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. A great read on how the pieces must align to become a success.
Actually it was something that was offered to me as child, to consider the existence of a "prime mover" of our universeSounds a little like a clip from the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. A great read on how the pieces must align to become a success.
Politics? Splain that one, please. It starts with coaching and I am specifically talking about when both teams are close to evenly matched. Its the coaches job to make sure they call the right plays at the right times based on a number of things. The players you have and their ability to specifically perform for the play you called, e.g. You can’t have a Receiver run Y crosser if he runs a 4.5+, and not every Defensive player blitzes well, not all corners can play bump and run well. Your units momentum and execution at that time, the unit your facing their S&W etc…it’s like a continuous algorithm.
You think Alabama has more J&J talent than Texas? I think so…Sark knew Bamas weaknesses on defense and exposed it in the flats…you have to have really fast OLBer and Safeties to play Sabans 3-4 schemes. Bama doesn’t have the same skill at those positions..perhaps he could have pivoted into another defensive look and set up his players for more success?
Another example is Illinois vs. us last year..I think we all know it’s apples to oranges the difference in J&J‘s between us and Illini….Bielema adjusted his team to beat our weaknesses..
I think a lot of our fans are frustrated with our lack of adjustments and frankly stubbornness and politics with our Offense last few years.
Multiple points simply from gleaning into different scenarios...Contract games, the not pulling QBs for a series or two in middle of games, neutral phrases that are double talk..collection of things.Politics? Splain that one, please.
Can't discount BB, he was a winner even as a DC, but TB has proven he can win it all without Belicheat, we don't know that can be said in the other direction. I think BB is done and time for NE to start fresh imho..There are many great coaches who labor their entire careers in anonymity because they never enjoy great talent. Brady of course is a Hall of Fame talent. We will never know exactly how much he would have achieved without Bill.
Someone still has to organize the talent. If you took your wristwatch apart and put it into a paper bag and shook it for 65 years....the pieces would never just fall together to make a functioning timepiece.
Very true as well, but as the old. saying goes, great players make great coaches. No one was reserving a high draft choice for Brady coming out of Michigan. Athletes, even with great natural ability, need the right environment to hit peak potential. All anyone needs to do is reference the MLB draft and see the top picks that just don't live up to the hype.
He was/is a 5 star guy.
My point is that he was a five star recruit that hasn’t really lived up to the hype, much like Justin Shorter. Would he start for PSU? Yes. Would he have been the difference in the game vs Ohio State? Perhaps, but I have my doubts. Not like Harrison was.And your point is? Not all 5* guys are equal, OK what else is new.
I trust that your not implying that he couldn't be starting on our team.
Lambert is better than Fleming w/o even looking anything up.My point is that he was a five star recruit that hasn’t really lived up to the hype, much like Justin Shorter. Would he start for PSU? Yes. Would he have been the difference in the game vs Ohio State? Perhaps, but I have my doubts. Not like Harrison was.
No arguments, I'd be comfortable with the resume of either one. Can't discount BB, he was a winner even as a DC, but TB has proven he can win it all no argumentswithout Belicheat, we don't know that can be said in the other direction. I think BB is done and time for NE to start fresh imho..
But, but, but Fleming was a 5 star. You know how that 5th star creates fanboy chubbies. He was 1.5 years older than many kids in his class and in a ground game offense. If it not for his injuries he'd have done better. Good kid, hard worker great attitude...but not a program changer.Lambert is better than Fleming w/o even looking anything up.
Not even close to Harrison. My point is that he was a five star recruit that hasn’t really lived up to the hype, much like Justin Shorter. Would he start for PSU? Yes. Would he have been the difference in the game vs Ohio State? Perhaps, but I have my doubts. Not like Harrison was.
yes...and we dont seem to have a Go-To-Play that we can truly count on. Others have said everything we do seems really hard and watching other teams albeit not even close to us in players execute their offenses better than we do. Its sad actually...X and O. When was the last time we caught someone off guard that wasn't a trick play? I'm thinking KLS against Utah. No slants, no pitches wide, rare crossing routes, rare jet sweeps. Have we EVER thrown to the jet? We are just too easy to game plan against.
The TD last Saturday to Dinkins was beautifully designed and executed.X and O. When was the last time we caught someone off guard that wasn't a trick play? I'm thinking KLS against Utah. No slants, no pitches wide, rare crossing routes, rare jet sweeps. Have we EVER thrown to the jet? We are just too easy to game plan against.
Exactly. It looks like a read option but everyone and their dead great-grandparent knows Allar isn't taking off with it.Shanahan’s team has lost 3 straight since the Niners won the Super Bowl against the Cowboys. What read option is PSU running by the way?
Yeah, there’s no doubt that’s a big part of the problem. When you’re making $10m/year, it’s not so you can go beat up UMass and Delaware. It’s because we expect you to compete with Michigan and Ohio State. We can get a HC that can trounce Indiana for a lot less than $10m/year, I guarantee it.100% its the BS talk and very little substance...I have stopped being critical of JF last two years as I am taking it as it comes--it is what it is.
I want him to be successful, he is a great representation of PSU. Want nothing but the best--he makes a lot of money--a lot....doesn't seem to make adjustments. I don't know...
Yeah, no problem. Thanks for the coaching “clinic”. I am sure all the other Franklin hating “experts” on here found it terribly “enlightening”.
