If I recall, it was a bad mixture of timing and politics.
The last time, it was said the invitation came right before the season was to begin. Not sure about the first time…if we went or not. I know Clyburn really wanted them to go and be celebrated this year.

And it is warranted for the office of the President of the United States, regardless of who the current officeholder is.
I'll have to disagree. The respect due the office is directly related to the respect earned by the occupant of the office. If you separate the officeholder from the office, you are asking people to respect a building or a position created on a piece of paper. The president is a person and that person has to earn respect.

I understand the notion of respecting the office, not the person. But i just feel that ship has sailed.

yes. actually america is a great country
sorry so many dissent......a minority but a loud one
I agree America is a great country. But the funny part is the current administration and Democrat administration running for office tend to cater specifically to that group that feels the exact opposite and have given no reason to believe that will stop if they are elected in November. So, I do take offense that you’re trying to belittle people who take issue with that and simply want to keep America as a great country. If you think our current trajectory is what we need more of then there just isn’t much to say.

Hard to respect the office of Deep State Puppet of the United States. We the People lost our country years ago. A lot of them are just now starting to realize that.
In order to get respect, you have to give it. You are not exhibiting that right now. Don't let political candidates, that most of us don't know, cause you to exhibit the behavior that you say you despise.

i see platitudes & bumper sticker slogans but no assessment of any issue, or cognizance that an anarchist fixated on pet cannibalism is running

Dissent does not mean you hate the country. You are dissenting now. Do you hate the country? So many people try to go overboard and tie dissent to hate. Just because a country is great does not mean that the country should stay the same forever. Show me any institution that does not improve itself, and I will show you an institution that will get passed by before very long. So, criticism is a push forward. Not a push back.
