I got a chance to see us play in West Lafayette in 99 - Lavar, Courtney Brown and Brandon Short. What a defense. Game was great. Walked away with the W, and after that I became a fan of Drew Brees.

Always liked him and respected how he played the game. One of the few guys I actually followed in the NFL.

Wow. This is a loaded question. So many great players over the years. I still love watching college football because you see someone you have never heard of and walk away saying, “Wow, that kid is really good”. I appreciate the underdog. The kids that had to fight and scrap to make the team and make the most of it. I always like those stories. On the flip side, kids like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Rocket Ismail you have heard of and just marvel at their athleticism. Not sure I can narrow it down to one?

Sorry. I didn’t realize the topic was B1G specific when I posted earlier. Still a tough decision though.

Right now, I like Taulia's game. Another year will do him well.
Overall, I would have to say Bronko Nagurski. The dude's name is Bronko. That's nice.

Late 60s, Leroy Keyes from Purdue was an outstanding 2-way player and All-American. I read about him in the 2 or 3 paragraphs on Sundays, which was as far as the paper covered the Purdue games. Bob Greise was the QB, so they were ranked and usually worth a small write-up.
The Sunday morning ND highlights show with Lindsay Nelson ('Purdue was unable to sustain a drive and punted to Notre Dame') was my only real glimpse of him, and that was once a season for 3 seasons. But, I tried to follow him as well as I could, as I thought he was something special as a young kid.

right now there is no question that Marvin Harrison Jr is the best WR in college football. He is one of the best college WRs I have ever seen. Wish he was on our team. Barring injury he will go very high in first round of draft. He was hurt in Ohio State's play off game. Like most PSU fans I never root for Ohio State but I think they would have won if he was not hurt.

Harrison is a wonderful player, agreed. I hate his choice of footwear, though.

OSU would have beat UGA with Harrison Jr, they could not cover the Wide outs when he was in the game.

I was at that game as well…I had end zone seats where we were defending Purdue 1st and goal at the 10…one of our best stops I’ve seen in person.

Same. I was 12 and it was a trip for just my Dad and I. Seeing the team get off the busses in suits was mind-blowing for me. My Dad took the opportunity to tell me how Joe ALWAYS did things the right way. I will never forget that. Also to be 12 and see Lavar and Courtney Brown from 2 feet away was the coolest thing I’d seen in my life.

Side note - we sat by the Purdue band. Every time we did the We Are cheer, many of the band yelled ‘sucks’. After the game an older PSU fan stood up and yelled ‘we may suck but we can beat Purdue’. Still a quote we use in the family and laugh at every time.

Dan Marino (checks notes) - I see they never made it in. My bad.
