in the SEC West this year?

There were a lot of changes in the offenses in the west this year. Which team do you think will improve the most on offense, not who will be the best, but who will improve the most?

Alabama has a new offensive coordinator but have starters returning at QB and running back and have an incoming receiver who alabama fans think can walk on water.

Auburn has a new offensive coordinator

Arkansas has a new offensive coordinator and a returning starting QB

LSU will a bunch of new offensive skill position starters

Ole Miss will have a new QB and RB and a new offensive system

State returns offensive coordinator, QB, RB, some receivers

you would think with the poor ranking of States and Ole Miss' offensive last year that we would have the best shot at improvement. But I would not bet on our offense.

My pick is Auburn.

My pick would be Ole Miss. If Sneed is half as good as they say he is, then he is twice as good as anyone they've had since Eli. They've got a good line, solid receivers, and some potentially good RBs. As long as Sneed isn't a bust, they should be able to move the ball pretty good.

I figure this is needed for comparison purposes:

LSU - 38.6 PPG, 439.4 YPG
Arkansas - 37.3 PPG, 450.0 YPG
Alabama - 27.1 PPG, 373.8 YPG
Auburn - 24.2 PPG, 335.2 YPG
MSU - 21.5 PPG, 297.2 YPG
Ole Miss - 20.1 PPG, 345.2 YPG

Based on that, I'd say that LSU and Arkansas are out of the discussion. I can't see either one having significant improvement over their last year numbers. Alabama could improve some, but for them to be the most improved offense in the West, I think they'd need to have one of the top offenses in the SEC this year. I don't know if I see that happening, so I'm removing them from the discussion.

That leaves Auburn, MSU, and Ole Miss that each had offenses that sucked enough to leave room for the most improvement. MSU doesn't have any major personnel additions, and you haven't changed your offensive scheme. Auburn will have a new QB and a brand new system. We have a new QB and a brand new system. That can be a good thing or bad thing for both us and Auburn

It may be a homer pick, but based on those facts and our overall ineptitude as an offense, I'd give Ole Miss the nod for most improved offense from 2007 to 2008. On a side note, I did find it interesting that while we were the worst scoring offense in the West last year, our offense actually moved the ball better overall than both MSU and Auburn.

Mississippi and Auburn...I'll go with Auburn based on 4 returning lineman and a switch to an offense that will use its strength- a mobile QB
