Why are teams so scared to use time outs?

Bears just ran 1 play on 32 seconds to lose the game with a time out in their pocket. You see it all the time. Teams waste way too much time because they’re scared to use the time out when they should.

I think Caleb Williams just had a brain fart and forgot the situation. I don’t think anybody was afraid to call a timeout.

I will try to give them a little benefit. It looked like they could easily get set and run a play with about 12 seconds left. But the two recovers couldn’t decide who was on and who was off. But at that point you have to Call TO

They were trying to save the timeout until after the next play so they could call it and set up a field goal. But they took like an hour and a half to get the play call in and used up all the time. Incredible incompetence

Call time out and you can run 5 or 6 plays

Which made some level of sense until Caleb decided to chuck it 30 yds down the field rather than completing a quick 5-8 yd pass for a FG try.

Just so many inexcusable errors in a 30 second span that led to that outcome

With 32 seconds in the click there’s plenty of time to run your fg team out & kick it.
After watching that last play I’m not sure they could have pulled that off But even moreso they had plenty of time to get a play off and have a second left. I’d rather that than try to rush my FG team on which increases the risk of a 10 second run off

It was third and 26. So they couldn’t clock it if they got taken down in bounds.
Ball on 41. You can run a long out route to get in field goal position.

You can throw the ball down field for a possible first or rush the field goal team out.

Plenty of time. You have to call a time out.

Yes, he did. The problem is that he needs a good coach, especially as a rookie quarterback in the toughest league in the NFL, and he hasn't had one the entire season.
