Will just squeaking by Furman be okay with you?

they should dominate this team from the first play to the last. Our 2nd team should beat this team by 20 points. It freaking Furman!

The short, dumb answer is: yes. At the end of the day, you want to get out of the stadium with a win, no matter how you get there. That said, we all understand the implications. If we cannot dominate the line of scrimmage against Furman, we're screwed in conference play. I don't care how good of an FCS program is or how close they played Clemson last year. We're an SEC program, they're Furman. This should be dominance from start to finish.

I'm not saying that's what I expect, because I've seen too many Gamecock football games, but that's what should happen.

How close was that game with clemson last year?

Clemson won by more than 3 td's, and were up by 19 at half. (35 to 9 soon after the half)

If we do that, I won't say it's close.

But I agree with your sentiment. We should not struggle in this game. Or we should "struggle" to a 3 td win.

For me to feel okay or satisfied, I want to win, show that we can run the ball, protect our quarterback, and get to their quarterback. If we can't do those things against Furman, we are in for a long year. I'm not expecting 200 yards rushing or 5 sacks, but would like to show we can open holes and pressure the QB. If the same players struggle in this game, that struggled in the UNC game, I hope to see them on the bench going forward. There were some players that looked as if they had no business on the field. I hope that changes.

I expect we will struggle with the run this year. It was a question mark coming into the year, leading up to the game, and was obviously a problem after the game. I would like a good enough run game so we can at least keep the defense honest and not load up on our receivers. There were a few times UNC only rushed 3 and we still struggled. That is embarrassing. That coupled with the fact that we have a QB beating out true RB's for the starting RB position tells us all we need to know about our run game.

If Beamer is destined to become Muschamp II, we might as well find it out now.
