If I were him, I would consider just shutting it down at this point.....

Only if we can label him a quitter and assert that Franklin has lost the locker room.

In related news, I will stop watching college football the rest of this season so I can get ready to watch the NFL draft. Please respect my decision.

Wow, I am really happy about this projection, but I just don't see it. Probably why I am not an NFL Scout. The same Mock Draft has Will Levis #6 to Carolina. I really hope that is way off base.

Looked up last week Olu stats and body stats both impressive. Hasn't allowed a sack this year. His length/strength/footwork is very good. Plus he is very young. 19 years old so his ceiling is extremely high. Here are some nfl scouts strengths of his...
  • Quick to get his hands up and will use his length to his advantage early in the down.
  • Fashanu also flashes heavy hands and has the ability to knock back pass rushers. He shows a mean streak as a run blocker, doing solid work on the second level.
  • Plays with appropriate wide base and intelligence, instincts and agility to seal the edge. Aggressive extending with power to punch and looks comfortable in space.
  • Has the functional strength to hold up against the bull rush, and Fashanu shows exceptionally quick and precise hands.
  • In the run game, he shows good burst off the line of scrimmage, with the ability to win at the point of attack. Fashanu has enough speed and athleticism to move to the second level and land blocks.

What we definitely should do, is use the situation of a PSU player doing well, and being respected enough for his talents to potentially become a top pick in the NFL draft, as an opportunity to criticize him, and anything else we can think of.

Mark beat me to it.

pretty sure Olu has already shut it down for the season

Kind of what I thought.

As is the case with Joey Porter. Is it true he was a “healthy scratch” from Saturday’s game?

OL

I read somewhere he had an appendectomy, but no clue.

The best things I can say:

1. We have 2 first round type kids.
2. Their replacements did well in their stead.

I understand Olu is a great prospect and has the potential to sign a massive NFL contract in the Spring. Still, he is only 19 years old and has only started 9 college games. I think another year in college would help him prepare for the NFL. According to reports, Olu is a good student. His parents are concerned about him being too young to play in the League.
I have a hard time believing he will go at the top of the first round. Regardless, good luck to him. IMO he is in a win win situation. He should follow his heart. The money will be there when he is ready.

Exactly I don’t think he’s ready, his parents want him to graduate so if I was to wager, he’s definitely coming back

Joey Porter Jr. had an emergency appendectomy during the week. That is the reason he is not playing.
I had mine out, and wasn’t thinking about much more than resting. Then again mine was leaking and I was in the hospital for 5 days on high dose antibiotics thru the IV

Here's what I posted in another thread:
The only question is: Is Olu ready to give up his "kid" status? He is only 19 and may want to have 1 more year of college life. He can get insurance in case something happens, and no, it won't be what his first round money would be, but it still would be substantial. You can't go back and have that "kid" experience ( wish you could though!! ) We don't know how much this factors into his decision, only he does.

I'm having a hard time seeing Levis as a first round pick, let alone the #6 pick. The writeup says he's had a horrible season but he's been injured. That's sort of two strikes against a high pick as far as I'm concerned.

But the NFL draft has had plenty of big, strong-armed QBs who never pan out, so why should he be any different.

Yeah, I don't see any criticism of Olu here, but I'm glad you were able to inject your smarmy virtue signaling into this thread.

The overall methodology used in that article gives as much pause as projecting a 9-game college starter at OT to be a top-3 pick. This is pure entertainment only.

I would almost never advocate for sports over academics, but we're talking $30M+ guaranteed, if this projection is accurate. Take the money, retire after 4 years with (hopefully) your health still intact, and go back and get your degree and do what you want with the rest of your life, knowing you have a nice little cushion to fall back on.

My daughter ended up in the hospital for 12 days. Had the surgery, didn’t recover well, then they found an abscess. Miserable experience.

Enjoy one more year of ur youth.. Get the degree. Get stronger, improve ur draft status and bigger signing bonus in 2024.Take the insurance.. Have PSU pay. OT is a low probability of getting injured....

I believe we've seen the last games for Fashanu, Porter and Jacob's in a Penn State uniform.

He can return and graduate at any time in the future. First round draft money can disappear in an instant with an injury. It'd be dumb not to go pro if he's really getting top 15 pick grades. Of course I hope he stays, but it would be dumb and I'd go pro if I were in his shoes, or anyone else's with a first round projection for that matter.

the smart thing is to get a grade from the NFL, then the smarter thing is to listen to what they say, and not some agent. If he gets a first round grade (I think they say something like 1st or 2nd rd) then go. Anything less come back to school.
