I miss NEPA pizza. It’s not the same here in Minnehaha.
You're not alone. While decent pizza can still be found, pizza nowadays has essentially become the same soulless "NY style" crap that's churned out in the majority of pizza joints from Cape Sable to Cape Flattery.

Want to try a tray from the one in the series, Sicilian Bella Festa. The owner used to work at Victory Pig so he has that going for him. We enjoy the one coming up this week, Here and Now in Honesdale.

Hi Wade,

Nice to hear from you. Great to see your daughter, Fay, on the Northwestern Field hockey roster. Wishing her well in studies and hockey from all of our family.

Tom

P.S. - never had your pizza at Dugans, Pizza Loven in Hanover is also one of my favorites.

I was always, and still am, a fan of Old Forge Pizza, but the new styles of Detroit Pizza that are popping up are really good.

And the Pan-Fried Sicilian at Cosmo’s Cheesesteaks is currently tops on my list.

Now, I just need someone to replicate in Arizona!

Frank Pepes in New Haven, CT remains my all-time favorite.
I am dying to try any New Haven pizza, especially this one.

I finally came around to Detroit style. The crispy, cheesy edges are the key. Have you been to Pizza Bianco in Arizona? Never had it, but it always gets high rankings.

Move that Cape Flattery boundary to the southeast, because the pizza scene in Portland, OR is insane. It was **** when I moved here in 1995 and now there are more quality new joints in the past year than some cities have in total.

After enjoying this thread Tgar is definitely going to pick a Friday to make a Kingston/ Hazleton run and have some squares for one of the tailgates. When I go to Hazle hams they sell boxes of Senape’s in the register counter. Delicious cold or hot.

Yea. As Yogi says, “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.” 😂 Seriously though, he changed the landscape of pizza in Phoenix. He was the first, I believe, to have Neapolitan-style pizza here. It’s very good but others caught up. And if you do Neapolitan pizza well, it’s tough to tell the difference because the standards are so strict.

Yes...excellent pizza....but it will always be Mack N Manco
Good pizza but a tarnished history. After the split with Mack who I think went to Wildwood, Manco did some jail time for tax evasion and the wife got probation. Seems it was an all cash business and the number of pizza boxes and other supplies ordered exceeded the the total amount of cash revenue reported to the IRS. There were too many bank deposits of $9,999. If you notice there, all the employees are required to cover their tattoos and they’re all clean cut, used to be all males (likely from the old country). I’m not sure if any of that was illegal. Things are a bit different now but the pizza is still great and there is always a line waiting to get in.

BTW the white pizza supreme at Sac-0-Subs is also excellent as an alternative. Locations are either around 10th and Asbury, or 55th St. I’m also partial to their chicken cacciatore hoagies but that’s another thread.

@Bison13, my wife and I went to the relocated Olney Winery in Ashton last night. They have a wood-fired oven and the pizzas were top-notch. They had a couple of Lone Oak Brewery’s selections, as well.

She is so happy. In a few weeks, NU is doing a New England swing of games. BC, Vermont, Maine. Even though she won't be playing, I will have a nice fun weekend.

Plus they play at PSU this year!!!!

For the love of all that is holy, I hope they never do a feature on Altoona style pizza. It's terrible but has a cult like following there. I grew up there and had it at the original Altoona Hotel once or twice. Not sure why i went the second time.......

From the article, the Altoona Hotel burned down in 2013.

I'm guessing arson to stop them from serving something so vile.

Will never not stan for Ohio Valley style pizza. But I don't discriminate. Sadly NoVa is a pizza wasteland (save a few outliers like Quattro Goombas Winery)....

Latest episode for all you Panther Valley denizens.

This sort of reminds me of Pizza House. The first time I called they answered the phone with "hello" and I thought I called the wrong number. 🤣
