They played one good team all year, and lost to them both times.

SEC schedule consisted of MSU (sucked), OU (sucked), UGA (lost 2x), Vandy (better than expected but still not good), UF (not good), Arkansas (sucked), UK (sucked), A&M (not nearly as good as expected).

And?
Who did Carolina beat of significance?
Playoff appearances are nothing more than dreams of what ifs.

What are you going on about? Texas SOS is 32. Carolina SOS is 15. And Carolina beat higher ranked teams than Texas.

We beat #10, 23, and 12.

Texas is good, and I think they should be in the playoff, but they're overrated. A banged up Georgia team clearly exposed that if there was any doubt.

So it is strength of schedule now?
Wins don’t count?
What was ODU strength?
Carolina has zero argument. If any 3 loss team does it is Ole Miss

Again, what in the world are you going on about? The OP was about Texas being overated. They are. OP didn't say Carolina should be in over Texas and neither did I.

LOL

I just looked at their schedule this morning, and came to the same conclusion. They were anointed at the beginning of the season as a Top 5 team, and with their schedule it was not going to be much of a challenge to keep that lofty position.

Texas offense will be their playoff downfall. I've felt that last half of the season.

When SMU gets in over Alabama, watch and see that automatic qualifiers soon go out the window, a formula is developed as there was back in the BCS days to take human subjectivity out of the picture and the number of teams in playoffs are increased from 12 to 16. If that all happens, that will be good.

Let's hope.

Yes, the simple point from the OP is that Texas had as cake of a conference schedule as you can get.

Give Alabama crap about other stuff, but they at least know they are playing UT and UGA every single season. Throw Auburn in for the times when they happen to be good.

I agree. Texas was over rated all year. They were ranked high preseason and got an easy schedule. I know the preseason rankings and early season rankings are here to stay but they are meaningless. Almost all of the top ten teams this year will lose key players and the 6 and 6 teams will get some key players from the portal or recruits. The one thing (and probably the only thing) I like about the portal is it's brought some parity to college football. I'm betting the end of the season ranking next year will look quite different from the 2025 preseason ranking.
