It's a good question, but these particular killings could have just as easily been random, perpetrated by trespassers or thieves out to rob the homeplace, which they might have thought to be unoccupied. I'm eager to see how the defense plays it. He's got one heck of a lawyer.
You are right, he has the perfect lawyer. But, I also think there are other people in high places somehow involved who have remained in the background thus far and wonder if the trial will bring them into the open with some surprises.

There is an attorney here ( not far from Hampton) who, word is, had dealings with Alec and went on trips together ( CWS for one). I know that’s true. Speculation that they were in on or at least knew a lot about some of the financial issues and will be testifying for the prosecution
