I'm gonna enjoy watching him & Wilkins this year, drive & create for others. Mason Williams is a freshman but the kid can shoot the 3, very nice form, very nice handle on the ball, Mo will get him ready to play some this year & don't be surprised if he is the backup PG to Diallo when he needs a breather, especially early on in the season to see what he's got. The kid is pretty stocky, solid build & will probably be stronger by the time the season starts.

Plays similar to Denzel to me. I’ve thought that since he came here on a visit. Better as a 2 guard but was brought in to be the point. Hope I’m way off, but the more I go back and watch his games last season I don’t know. It’s why I really liked the thought of him and Wright together. I don’t know what the future will be for him if does make an NBA roster, I’d think combo guard though if he can improve his three point shooting. Glad to have him here though and think he’s going to be pretty good.

I’m very interested to see him and Aberdeen play on the same court together. Also think Wilkins will get some run at PG and Diallo will play off ball too. Might be a hot hand situation.

The more I think of Diallo and Wilkins, the better I feel about the real bottom line for our team. I believe they're going to have to be a focal point for any team playing against us, stats production overall, but point production in particular, is what we're going to need from them both.

They're more than capable of the job. Can't wait to see the chemistry when both are on the floor together.

Wilkins really has that dog in him I believe and he’s ready to prove himself on the big stage. I think he’s going to be our best overall player, At least for now with our current team. I want this team to be overachievers and play as one unit, play nasty defense and wear teams out, cut,cut and cut some more on offense to get open threes and layups, hit their free throws and they should be able to compete with most teams. I’m hoping for the best no doubt.

He’s not a Furman level player coming up, he slipped through the cracks to Furman. That’s why I’m bullish on him to score 18 ppg as our leading scorer. Think the Zoom action with him will help his transition into a beefier league. Hope they are locking him in the gym from June to Oct.

His 3 point shooting on catch & shoot 3's is 37.5%, Wilkins drives, kicks out to Diallo for a catch & shoot 3.

Wilkins is 40% on catch & shoot 3's, Diallo drives, kicks out to Wilkins for a catch & shoot 3.

Both are in the low 30% range shooting the 3 overall. Lamont Butler was 31% when he came here, he left being 36%.

Mo Wiliams was a damn good 3 point shooter at Alabama & in the NBA, I'm sure he'll be helping them improve their 3 point shooting.

Offensively I think they will be better than year 1, probably defensively also.

Good information. Thread Winner imo

They are solid 3 shooters if used correctly

I think he's similar to Denzel physically but his assist rate last year was MUCH higher than Aberdeen so I think he's more of a point guard than Aberdeen who was definitely not a point guard.

Big big reason we really need Moreno back who is probably ready to really work point center in that Zoom action for us. If not I feel a Year 2 repeat coming on, maybe a tad better if we stay healthy.

I suspect the plan was Wright and Zoom. Zoom and Wilkins is a little different, but also exciting and bigger on the perimeter. I think Mo is excited by that duo for a reason.

Pope seems to go after the guys who have something to prove. His first year he found older guys who started for lower division and lower profile schools who longed for the bigger stage. Last year, he attempted the same thing, I think, but had more big program bench players who he thought were ready to start. Lowe was like Carr. Lower profile schools but starters. Aberdeen proved a correct move. MoDee probably is an SEC bench energy guy.

This year appears to be those guys who started and excelled, but want the bigger stage. Wilkins is the guy that seems poised. He is both a former leader/starter off a smaller school but as a true soph he could be ready for a leap (“Best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores”). McBride was a focal point of his team and now he gets to be on a big team with other dudes. You hope they are all working hard with a chip on their shoulders to prove something. One thing seems apparent to me. Our ballhandling at every position should be greatly improved.

It seems to me that we have :

1) better ball handlers ( We have point guards !)
2) better shooters
3) improved defense
4) improved rebounding

the last 2 will be critical to prove that they're better this year.

If the guys are hungry, tune out the negativity, and stay focused, they can be better than a ten loss season. Stay hungry, Cats !
