The 2023 NBA Draft is scheduled to take place Thursday, June 22 (7 p.m. CT on ABC/ESPN), and as many as three former Alabama basketball players could hear their names called among the 58 picks (the Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls each forfeited a second-round pick).

Freshman forwards Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney are set to be selected in the first round, with Miller widely projected to be a top-three pick, after both players earned invites to the NBA draft green room. Sophomore center Charles Bediako did not but could sneak his way into the late second round. However, many analysts believe the big man will go undrafted tomorrow.

French phenom Victor Wembanyama is universally expected to be the top overall pick. As for No. 2, ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski shared the latest on Miller and the second pick.

“I’m told that Alabama’s Brandon Miller further solidified his standing as Charlotte’s choice at No. 2,” Wojnarowski said Tuesday. “The workout and meetings he had in Charlotte yesterday … this is the first time Michael Jordan – the outgoing majority owner in Charlotte – had a chance to watch Miller in person, to sit down and meet with him. Both Miller and Scoot Henderson came back to Charlotte for second workouts, second meetings, and I’m told Miller was better the second time around in that environment than he had been the first time.

“And certainly positionally, Miller’s advantage over Scoot Henderson in Charlotte is that they’ve got a point guard in LaMelo Ball, who they believe is a franchise-level point guard. And right now, Brandon Miller continues to be the focus for the Hornets at No. 2.”

Ahead of the 2023 draft, we compiled a list of eight mock drafts from ESPN, The Ringer, The Athletic, CBS Sports, Yahoo! Sports, Bleacher Report, USA TODAY and Tankathon for a look at where the former UA players could land, including one projection that had Miller and Clowney teaming up in the same city. In all of these mock drafts, Miller was among the top-three selections.
