This weekend marked the third visit for Chaminade four-star athlete Edwin Joseph to Florida State, and once again Mike Norvell and the Seminoles knocked it out of the park.

Before leaving Tallahassee to head home to South Florida on Sunday, Joseph discussed his official visit, what stands out about the Florida State program, how close he is to making a decision and how he will announce his commitment.

“I loved it. I’ve been here a couple of times, and this was probably the best time because it was an official visit,” Joseph said. “I loved every single moment of it. The biggest part was going over to Coach Norvell’s house. That was the best part. It just felt like family.”

Speaking of Norvell, Joseph got the chance to speak with the Florida State head coach one more time late Sunday morning before wrapping up the visit.

“We were really just talking about how he wants to coach me,” the four-star prospect said. “I really believe in his word with me, how the program is really growing up. [Our] bond has just improved ever since he offered me. Especially on this visit.”

So how is the four-star defensive back feeling about Florida State after this visit?

“They’ve been in my top and are still there,” he said. “It’s probably the best visit of my official visits, and it shows how much they really love me.”

While he has not yet made a commitment, Joseph said that’s likely going to come over the next week after he talks things over with his family. His parents were on the visit to Tallahassee this weekend, and Joseph said it was a positive experience for everyone.

“I think they loved it,” he said. “They loved it better than any on the visits.”

Among the many highlights of the visit, Joseph loved taking part in a photo shoot in an all-white Florida State uniform.

“That was one of the best pics. All the background was black, so it was great,” he said.

The Chaminade standout, who helped his high school team win a state championship in Tallahassee on Thursday, also enjoyed watching the Seminoles hold bowl practices this weekend. He said it gave him insight into how the team improved during the course of the 2022 season.

“It was definitely exciting seeing them grow every week,” Joseph said. “Especially after that bye week. Seeing them go down to Miami and beating Miami.”

Florida State defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson seems to be at the heart of Joseph’s recruitment, and the receiver/defensive back said their relationship has grown stronger throughout the process.

“Really been great. Ever since he offered,” Joseph said. “Me and him get closer and closer. It shows the connection we have. He tells me how much he wants to coach me. Really showed me some tips. Shows me how he works hard.”

And the feedback from Florida State’s current players also has been invaluable.

“They told me how great it is,” he said. “I talked with Kevin Knowles, and he talked about Coach Adam Fuller and how he was there for him when he was going through stuff and he really loves him. It helps me in making my decision.”

Perhaps the best recruiter for Florida State in regards to the Joseph recruitment might just be five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams. The fellow South Florida prospect is clearly trying to get his friend to become a Seminole.

“Hykeem hit me up the whole weekend,” Joseph said. “Asking me how are you loving it. Me and him have been talking this whole week.”

Williams and the Florida State fan base should find out soon enough.

Joseph said he doesn’t have any other visits planned, and he’s now in decision mode during the next week. Saying he doesn’t like to draw too much attention to himself, the talented athlete added that he likely will announce his commitment with a social media post.
