The Michigan Wolverines have added a pair of prospective wide receivers in the transfer portal this week, but they may not be done with their interest in the position. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Arizona State transfer wideout Elijhah Badger says U-M is among the 20 schools to make contact.

He has one season of eligibility remaining and is the top available player in the portal at wide receiver, per the On3 rankings.

Michigan is in the mix with Florida, Florida State, Washington, Texas A&M, Auburn, Michigan State, Louisville, Colorado, Utah, West Virginia, South Carolina, Arizona, Ole Miss, Arkansas, USC, Cal, South Florida, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, he is set to visit Florida and Arizona sometime in the near future. Badger has already taken a visit to the Washington Huskies.

Last season, Badger had 65 catches for 713 yards and three touchdowns. During the 2022 season, he had 70 catches for 886 yards and seven touchdowns.

Badger’s metrics in the past few years proved that he’s among the nation’s best at his position and he figures to be one of the most coveted receiver prospects in the portal. He was responsible for 41 of Arizona State’s 145 passing first downs in 2022 (28.3 percent), giving him the 33rd most first downs among all receivers during the regular season. Badger also forced 25 missed tackles, putting him first among all Pac-12 receivers and second amongst all receivers in the nation.

The gifted wideout hauled in 24 explosive catches (15-plus yards) on the season, which was good enough to rank him 23rd among all receivers in the country and third in the Pac-12 Conference.

Michigan added Youngstown State receiver C.J. Charleston this week, who was a solid contributor last year with 33 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns for Youngstown State and entered the transfer portal last week. He could have as many as two seasons of eligibility remaining. The team also re-added Amorion Walker, who began his career at receiver before switching to corner. Walker entered the transfer portal this winter, but elected to return to Ann Arbor with many speculating it could be for a shot at the wide receiver position.

U-M spent most of its first camp under head coach Sherrone Moore with five scholarship wide receivers in senior Peyton O’Leary, junior Tyler Morris and sophomores Fredrick MooreSemaj Morgan and Kendrick Bell. Freshmen Channing Goodwin and I’Marion Stewart will join the team this summer ahead of fall camp.
