NC State’s success in the transfer portal continued with a splash Thursday afternoon. Ohio State wide receiver Noah Rogers committed to NC State, The Wolfpacker confirmed, quickly becoming one of the centerpieces of the portal class.

Rogers, a former five-star recruit out of Rolesville High, was On3’s No. 1 ranked player in North Carolina in the Class of 2023. He signed with the Buckeyes over Clemson, NC State and North Carolina out of high school.

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound wideout did not record a catch in four games (12 total snaps) with Ohio State. He enrolled early with the Buckeyes after he starred at Rolesville, where he had more than 3,200 receiving yards in his four varsity seasons.

Rogers caught 39 passes for 799 yards and 15 touchdowns during his senior season and he had 70 receptions for 1,432 yards and 22 scores in his breakout junior campaign at Rolesville.

Now, Rogers will reunite with a local-heavy transfer portal class in Raleigh. He joins his former high school teammate, safety Temarcus Cooley, who transferred from Maryland after trying to flip Rogers to the Pack while the two were at Rolesville together.

In addition to Cooley, Rogers will team up with former Millbrook High standout Wesley Grimes, who transferred to NC State from Wake Forest in early-December. Rogers and Grimes are the only two wide receivers in the Wolfpack’s transfer portal class at the moment, but the program was able to sign five freshmen to revamp that position group. Of the five incoming freshmen, the Pack signed a pair of four-star recruits: Terrell Anderson and Jonathan Paylor

Based on TheWolfpacker.com’s count, the running back’s decision to transfer brings NC State up to 83 scholarships for the 2024 season once the 22 Wolfpack prep commits officially join the program.
