Quite possibly, yes. Do you know who the current and immediate past tOSU presidents are?You just have to ask yourself and answer one question:
If Ohio State University was looking for a new President, would they have hired Neeli?
Yes. The current one has, and prior ones all had, far better credentials than Neeli.Quite possibly, yes. Do you know who the current and immediate past tOSU presidents are?
Not in a million years. Comparing Johnson's resume to Neeli's, for what it is worth, is like comparing a kid's fingerpainting to a Picasso.Quite possibly, yes.
DEI hire (used to be called affirmative action) because her record speaks for itself. "Forbes Magazine ranks the University (Louisville) 431st among 650 universities, colleges, and service academies." Penn State ranks #155 on the same list, and has been dropping in the rankings under the leadership of President Chip Dip.
I don't know if she likes football or not, but she apparently had no problem sticking her nose into athletics at UL, while publicly stating that the AD was the decisionmaker in that department. She sat in on the end-of-year meeting between the AD and Scott Satterfield and was said to have pushed for Satterfield to be retained. She also apparently was instrumental in letting the AD out of his non-compete to go to FSU. They were said to have a strained relationship.Does she like football?
In all seriousness, think where massive amounts of money for universities are coming from and the priorities of the politicians handing it out. Now, what would you think is the best way to get that money? Understand that and you'll understand how the bot prioritizes credentials..
Nah, I would say he was more of a pasty white with a yellow belly.I read she was a person of color. Does that mean Barron was translucent?
Apparently her husband is a Louisville professor. A package deal?
Louisville enrollment is 22,600. PSU is 88,900 (all campuses). Louisville budget for 2021-22 is $1.7 billion. PSU budget for 2021-22 is $7.7 billion. This hire seems like a real stretch to me.
PSU has done it yet again!
Her prior employer’s ranking dropped into the nether world.
Is this a conspiracy among those seeking to destroy this university!
This person couldn’t carry Graham Spanier’s lunch box.
Two 10 year olds could have made this choice.
Ridiculous.
ps: one thing I am sure of his her political inclination.

Technically, she does have a bit of what one would likely consider "Business Experience". Whether any of it is complimentary is another question.
Bendapudi's bio is interesting. She was dean of the Kansas Business School for a couple of years. She went on a hiring spree and added tons of staff. After she left her successor immediately got rid of 150 people. I bet she gets along with Sandy and ends up hiring loads of people. Bendapudi is a career academician with no business experience. She probably looks at money like water and will spend like crazy while she continually whines to the legislature for more taxpayer money.
Not going to happen. Paterno's been honored all he is going to be.I hope the new president's agenda of inclusion and diversity includes finally honoring Paterno properly and going after the B10 for the stolen Bowl money.
That's shameful. Not going to happen. Paterno's been honored all he is going to be.
As a form of protest, make a large and impactful donation to PSU. It will be sincerely appreciated and wasted. The comments on this hire are among the stupidest things I’ve ever read.

This board is capable of much worse. So much untapped potential. That’s saying something. You’ve been with us a long time.
This board is capable of much worse. So much untapped potential.
I like that she has a marketing background - "throughout the commonwealth and beyond”. Neeli knows that brand matters. In all seriousness, I'll reserve judgement and hope that she does well at Penn State. As Bob might say, "Ira has this."
“UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Neeli Bendapudi, currently president and professor of marketing at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, has been unanimously named Penn State’s next president by the Penn State Board of Trustees on Dec. 9. When she begins her appointment as Penn State’s 19th president in spring 2022, she will make history as the first woman and person of color to serve as the University’s president.”
And,
“Penn State is a world-class university, and I couldn’t be prouder and more excited to join this vibrant community of outstanding students, faculty, staff and alumni throughout the commonwealth and beyond,” Bendapudi said. “Thank you to the Penn State community and Board of Trustees. I am grateful for this opportunity and will make it my mission to help Penn State reach new heights across each of our campuses.”
We’re screwed.
Following Barron’s retirement announcement, the Board of Trustees moved forward with a phased approach to select a new University leader and named the Presidential Recruitment and Selection Committee to lead the search with support from executive search firm Spencer Stuart. During a listening phase in the spring, Penn State community members shared their input and recommendations resulting in a Next Gen Penn State report that was used to inform the presidential position profile. The official search launched in July 2021 and throughout the fall the Presidential Recruitment and Selection Committee developed a pool of the highest-quality candidates, with deliberate effort to identify diverse, high-performing candidates across genders and backgrounds.
