I agree - there are rules and then there are the assumption of etiquette rules. Enticing others to leave before you have left yourself is inappropriate. I would like to think it is the ignorance of youth on how things should be done. And yet there will be many who would blame TNT for having an issue with it.
To be fair we are only hearing one (slightly biased) side of the story.

Is any of the apparent bad blood with Drake tied to HWC, Drake wanting to be around even though Spencer there, and them not able/willing to pay him? Dresser/Metcalf dangling money in front of Drake to bring the binder and some guys with him, and his excitement over money getting the best of him before he graduated? Tensions over how this year went? Doesn't matter at this point I guess, just curious.

All the makings of another overcoming story. So much potential, lets go JW.
Overcoming lack of effort? How many years does one get to ride "the so much potential" train? Can't wait for this awesome version of Jacori Williams in his Senior season......... hopefully it's anywhere but Iowa.

I have no issue with Drake leaving and coaching at ISU or anywhere he wants honestly. It is life and good for him. If he was upfront with the staff at Iowa about it, there is no reason for either side to be upset about it. I find it hard to believe Drake approached Tom and said he is going to ISU and then coached Iowa recruits at the US Open or recruited current Iowa wrestlers. That is where things get muddy. Not being honest with his motives and intentions is the problem. Not sure how Tom is supposed to not have issues with that. It didn't have to happen like this and that is on Drake imo.

1. Re JW: I'm happy to see it, though I know that opinion is not universally shared. I'd like to see him succeed at Iowa.

2. Uh-oh. Another flareup of bad blood, and this time the evil Drake Ayala is to blame? Sorry, not buying it anymore. This level of bad blood isn't normal or healthy, and there's one common denominator.

3. Dresser was a good friend, coach, and cornerman to me. I don't really care if people badmouth him--I get it. But I'm gonna stick my hand up every now and then and defend him here, because he's a good guy.

I realize I'm going 0 for 3 today on capturing the sentiment of the board, lol.
You like to push the bad blood scenario when you have absolutely no clue.
All you know is Drake took a job at isu and his brother & Kale went with him.
Seems like you try to stir **** up whenever you get a chance.

Shocking to hear this about Drake but I guess they call it "Dirty Dodge" for a reason. Trust nothing from that town except for Taco Tico!

I also wont lose any sleep over Kale leaving. Good for him getting back closer to Jefferson. Iowa can always find another state champ practice room partner.

People on here can say what happened, people on here won’t say what happened because it’s not our place to say it. There are plenty of things you can criticize Tom for, the Endene situation isn’t one of them.

I find it funny people on here are spouting out “truths” that were written by perpetual Iowa and Brands haters that want nothing more than to see Iowa fail. Some of the haters had “DMs” from Ayala saying he hates the Brands and won’t speak to them again. Funny he would feel that way and still be wrestling here. He’s a 2x NCAA finalist and would’ve gotten his fair share of money if he wanted out. Also he hates it so bad that his brother (who isn’t an Iowa starter) came and stayed as well as Drake. You can’t believe everything you read on the internet especially when it comes from people with an agenda.

I’ve been vocal about disliking Brands but I have never wanted or rooted for them or Iowa to fail. I have never heard anything about the weird Ayala thing but it wouldn’t sway me either way.

When Iowa isn’t winning it opens itself and the coaching up to pretty much all criticism. It would go a long way if people didn’t hide behind the whole “people on here know but won’t say what happened because it’s not our place to say.” It’s such crap. The boards are a perfect place to put to bed rumors with the truth.

A program doesn’t have to be run with cold war secrecy. That same mentality supposedly hurt Iowa in the past with the “negative recruiting” bit.
This exchange happened back in February. We were assured by the Brands fans that Ayala wanting to leave was lies and smears made up by some unhinged Brands haters with an agenda. Seems there are plenty of people here with an agenda.

Are we surprised that a kid takes a new job and try’s to tell some of his friends they should join him? I mean it’s not like he’s trying to just poach random wrestlers; he’s friends with a lot of these guys. If I were to switch jobs and there’s was openings at my new job I would ask some of my co workers I like to join me. I ain’t mad at Drake for whatever he did.

Why are so many people discounting Estrada. He was a true Freshman and stepped up and showed a lot of fight. Redshirted this last year, but I would assume with another year and a half in the program he will be even better. I would prefer Block to move up to 57 and Estrada at 149.

Because he didn't beat anyone. His claim to fame is "well, he kept that close" while not showing much offense. Then he got hurt and missed time, which didn't help. And when he came back...he still showed he has a long way to go.

It's as simple as that.

Just more garbage misinformation being pushed by TNT’s biggest donor. At this point, it’s obvious the coaching staff isn’t just making up BS rumors about their former star—they’re actively feeding them to a donor so he can play insider online and pretend he knows what goes on behind the doors of a facility with his name slapped on it

Wait...you think the guy with his name on the facility has to "play insider"? That's bizarre.

Drake has had one foot out the door/is the grass greener eyeballs for a bit now. And it was always a money issue, not a Tom issue. And this is coming from a guy who isn't the biggest Tom fan.
I really wonder how close Taylor was to poaching him at NCAAs last year? I'm sure he offered a big payday and Tom even mentioned it at one of the pressers.

And Kennedy is alive in a Dallas old folks home too.

Look no big deal Drake left, free country and it's a coaching gig he would not have had at Iowa. It's how he did it. Maybe he was colored by the fact that ISU was after him continually for 2 years and thought what they were doing was ok.

But, you believe what you want to believe if it makes you feel better.

Pretty much the only really good thing about JW returning is that it means no Columbus Strangler. Did someone (Goetz?) again have to step up and be the adult in the room?

Are you saying that JW is returning?

Or, that if he were to return, that means Ech is going elsewhere?

And then there's this....don't shoot the messenger, just posting what's out there. I understand Tom's frustration, KD is essentially a pipeline to PSU. AWA is a no go for their kids. M2? no chance. Big Game? issues.

I also understand Toms frustration, but acting like an *** and yelling at KD seems like an odd way to thaw a frozen relationship.
