Such a disappointing game 5. Not even because they lost but because they had zero energy. Joel was hurt and I get it, but because of that we got moopy Joel. Horrible passes out of double teams, flailing all over, and bad energy from him. That seemed to trickle through the rest of the team. Maxey made little effort to engage on the offensive end which was so frustrating. There were times Barnes (with a bad ankle) and Siakem switched to him and he just passed it off without even looking at the rim. Danny was brutal missing a ton of wide open corner 3’s.

Only positive was at the end of the game it looked like Harden made Joel sit with him and Maxey and they seemed to be saying “not again on Monday” (paraphrasing of course).

With the Heat loss I was hoping for a sweep and additional rest but not gonna happen. Game 5 Monday night. Hopefully with Matiesse back in the lineup and at home they bring better energy and close this out. Curious if Fred VV is back for game 5 after the hip injury.

Series is now 3-1…I hate typing that when Doc Rivers is your coach.

I'm stunned by the lack of "something" they couldn't close this at home. OMG turnovers, hustle....

Goodnight.

They’re headed down a slippery slope. It’s better than 50-50 they go to game 7 in Philly. That’s not a good feeling.

That scenario was unfathomable last week.
Agreed, but that tweet says it all. The past two games have just been horrible to watch. Embiid's injury is one thing but there have been so many other things to not like about what we've seen as well.

To be honest, the current version of the team required a herculean effort from Embiid for at least 3 games per series going forward to win anything of consequence this year. With Embiid hurt, it's not happening this year.

A possible silver lining is that they may be able to get away from Harden without huge financial hardship.

They got rid of what now seems like an historic bad contract with Simmons in the process.

The question is what exact financial flexibility they have going forward to attract another star player. Harris is on max money and that seems iffy.

Holy 3rd quarter, Batman! The Sixers are having are executing like fans have been dreaming they could.

It was 62-61, Sixers, at the half. It's now 89-70, Sixers, with 4:13 left in the 3rd qtr.

Everyone was hitting in 3Q and Toronto went cold. Look out for a Toronto run coming.

How is Embiid? Hearing he is out indefinitely with orbital fracture

"No timetable for his return." Ominous.
Last time he was out with a broken orbital bone he missed 3 weeks and required surgery. This isn’t good.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I feel like we have our first critical Doc Rivers mistake. Why Joel was still in the game up ~ 25 with 3 mins left (with a torn ligament in his thumb already) is going to be the question of these playoffs for the Sixers if he’s done for the year.

Oh and don’t forget they originally called Embiid a foul for taking an elbow to the eye

Sixers UP 51-50 at the half without the big man!

an interesting 1st half. Sixers' D (or Heat poor O) at the end of the half enabled the Sixers to take their 1st lead of the game.

With Lowry out, the Heat have limited offensive weapons. With Joel out, the Sixers have played a lot of zone D.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the 2nd half.

Biggest change seemed to be burying Deandre Jordan on the bench. +7 when Paul Reed is in. He’s really active. If he can just find a way to not foul as much he could really be a huge help.

Biggest difference right now is your getting NOTHING from Niang and Green. Gotta get 2 or 3 threes from them at least. They are missing wide open 3’s. They can’t afford to miss out on points like that.

For context I posted this when they were only down 10 🤣. At this point they have a lot more problems than George and Danny.

Both contributed a good bit in the Raptors series, though George is a defensive liability.

It seems that without Embiid to take 1 or 2 defenders in the paint, the Heat are able to stretch out their D, which keeps Niang and Green from getting wide open looks where they have time to get set.

I'd add two other points:

- without Embiid, the Sixers are having a tough time on the boards

- Tobias Harris has underperformed/disappointed a great deal of the season. Something clicked for him in the 1st half, as he was playing like many of thought he could/would
