It now looks like Simmons won’t play for Brooklyn for the remainder of the regular season and possibly for the playoffs as well. This trade is looking horrible for them although who knows what future years may bring although KD is 34 years old now so his window is beginning to close. Hardin is now 32 as well and on some nights he looks human with some sloppy turnovers but overall the Sixers came out far to the better and should make a good run. They do miss Simmon’s defense but Maxey’s play has been the biggest benefit to this whole deal IMHO. I love seeing him shooting those foul shots at the end instead of Simmons. Just keep Juju healthy, and rested if you can.

Looks like we found out the non vaxxed Sixer. Matisse is “ineligible to play” in Toronto. This could be a massive issue if they end up playing them in the playoffs. Not having your best wing defender could be a bit of an issue.

I’m watching Durant against the Knicks and he’s fabulous. He really is an extraordinary passer, has wonderful court sense.

Missing Matisse Tubulle because he wasn’t vaccinated hurt them this game. It seemed like Toronto shot 3 pointers with impunity. I sure hope he wasn’t paid for tonight.

While I agree it hurt, the Raptors were without 2 starters in Van Fleet & OG and still were able to be more athletic than the Sixers. The Sixers are gonna have a real problem if this is their first round matchup. Between Harden being average, Matisse not being able to play road games, and the Raptors ability to switch on everything and cause Joel issues I’m not sure they get out of that series. I think that game last night also put Joel’s MVP hopes to bed as well.

Only good that will come from a first round exit will be Glen Rivers swift removal from the Sixers bench. I am really curious what happens with Harden. If they give him 5 years the Sixers could be looking at a Westbrook situation. If he opted in for one more year I would be comfortable with that but there are reports they promised him an extension. He really seems washed at this point. Unless he is playing on some bad hamstrings that need 6 months rest, I’m not sure I would want to tie myself to that ship for the next 5 years. He doesn’t seem to take care of his body and that could lead to a massive dropoff. Wondering if that’s what we are seeing now. Maybe he wasn’t dogging it in Brooklyn. Maybe that is the player he really was.

So who is their likely first round playoff opponent? There’s a bunch of teams clustered just behind Miami. Tie breakers?

The Raptors are locked into the 5. It comes down to them and the Celtics for the 3/4. Basically if they both win tomorrow they end in a tie and the Celtics have the tiebreaker so the Sixers get the 4 and the Celtics get the 3. If the Sixers beat Detroit and the Celtics lose to the Grizzlies then the Sixers get the 3. The 3 is optimal because the Bulls are struggling right now. Gotta hope the Grizzlies actually try tomorrow night. They will be in the second night of a back to back with nothing to play for so I wouldn’t be shocked if they sit everyone making for an easy game for the Celtics.

If I had to make a prediction it will be the Sixers / Raptors in round 1.

If they exit in the first round this year, then all hell will break loose after the moves they’ve made. They’d have bigger problems than coach.!

No Embiid or Harden to close the season. Looks like it’s gonna be the Maxey show tonight. Wind him up and let him go!!

So do the 76ers lose Tybulle now for all the away games? That stinks. That last game up there doesn’t bode well!

That’s correct. Matisse can not play or travel with the team for all road games in Toronto. Offensively it’s not an issue. They can make up his 6-8 points a game. Defensively though, losing him against an athletic Toronto team hurts especially when the Sixers struggle on D as a full unit anyway. Gonna be an interesting series.

I know it’s only one game against a team that is 10th in the playoffs, but CJ McCollum looks great. I heard someone on a podcast (can’t remember which one) ask what CJ would look like with Joel instead of James Harden when they were reviewing trades for Simmons. We still have the playoffs to go for James to prove the trade was the right move but man…CJ with Joel wouldn’t be too shabby (based on this game which is a must win for Pel’s and CJ is coming up big).

I’m super nervous for this Sixers/Raptors series. I feel like it all sits with Harden. I think Glen Rivers will easily get out coached by Nurse. It will be up to the starting 5 (because we know Glen will want to get as many minutes as possible for Deandre “The Fossil” Jordan). Shaq said Harden should target getting 6 points a quarter and if so the Sixers make the finals. He said “one layup, 2 foul shots, and a jumper. That’s it!” Sounds easy enough but will he be able to do that? Everyone knows I’m the mush so…for the Sixers…I’m taking the Raptors in 6. Your welcome my fellow Sixers fans!!

I think the key is Maxey. If he can go off and get his 20-25 per game the Sixers win. He has the ability to take over and provide the offensive spark when they need it, and if he can hit some 3 pointers he’s very dangerous. Hardin doesn’t need to score if he can can open looks for Maxey, Green, and inside to Embid to get to the foul line for his 30-40 per game. Wishful thinking maybe?

As a Sixers fan I’ll never trust a video of a player shooting jumpers and making them in a non game situation as long as I live!!!

lol. I almost didn't post the tweet for that very reason. In the end, I decided it was news, and tweeted by a reporter who has earned my respect for being a straight shooter, so I made the post.

Edit: Here’s a prediction of the NBA awards. The MVP top three is one I didn’t expect. I’ll hold off on naming names because I wish I myself had tried to guess who won what. MVP, DPOY, ROY, 6MOY (easy guess), MIP (surprised me), COY (easy). Each award named first, second, third.

From the article you linked:

"In this article, we predict which players will end up going home with individual awards such as the MVP."

The official awards have not been announced.

Dang. I saw something related to the All-NBA teams that I caught as a prediction. This caught me sleeping, thanks for the catch. I’ll edit.

Sixers up 8 after 1. Foul trouble for the raptors. Raptors went small to start. Hopefully they figure a way to get Joel good looks down low to take advantage of that as the game goes on. These upcoming non Joel minutes are going to scare me to death. Eyes closed…HOLD ON!!
