While I agree it hurt, the Raptors were without 2 starters in Van Fleet & OG and still were able to be more athletic than the Sixers. The Sixers are gonna have a real problem if this is their first round matchup. Between Harden being average, Matisse not being able to play road games, and the Raptors ability to switch on everything and cause Joel issues I’m not sure they get out of that series. I think that game last night also put Joel’s MVP hopes to bed as well.Missing Matisse Tubulle because he wasn’t vaccinated hurt them this game. It seemed like Toronto shot 3 pointers with impunity. I sure hope he wasn’t paid for tonight.
The Raptors are locked into the 5. It comes down to them and the Celtics for the 3/4. Basically if they both win tomorrow they end in a tie and the Celtics have the tiebreaker so the Sixers get the 4 and the Celtics get the 3. If the Sixers beat Detroit and the Celtics lose to the Grizzlies then the Sixers get the 3. The 3 is optimal because the Bulls are struggling right now. Gotta hope the Grizzlies actually try tomorrow night. They will be in the second night of a back to back with nothing to play for so I wouldn’t be shocked if they sit everyone making for an easy game for the Celtics. So who is their likely first round playoff opponent? There’s a bunch of teams clustered just behind Miami. Tie breakers?
If they exit in the first round this year, then all hell will break loose after the moves they’ve made. They’d have bigger problems than coach.!While I agree it hurt, the Raptors were without 2 starters in Van Fleet & OG and still were able to be more athletic than the Sixers. Only good that will come from a first round exit will be Glen Rivers swift removal from the Sixers bench. I am really curious what happens with Harden. If they give him 5 years the Sixers could be looking at a Westbrook situation. If he opted in for one more year I would be comfortable with that but there are reports they promised him an extension. He really seems washed at this point. Unless he is playing on some bad hamstrings that need 6 months rest, I’m not sure I would want to tie myself to that ship for the next 5 years. He doesn’t seem to take care of his body and that could lead to a massive dropoff. Wondering if that’s what we are seeing now. Maybe he wasn’t dogging it in Brooklyn. Maybe that is the player he really was.
That’s correct. Matisse can not play or travel with the team for all road games in Toronto. Offensively it’s not an issue. They can make up his 6-8 points a game. Defensively though, losing him against an athletic Toronto team hurts especially when the Sixers struggle on D as a full unit anyway. Gonna be an interesting series. So do the 76ers lose Tybulle now for all the away games? That stinks. That last game up there doesn’t bode well!
As a Sixers fan I’ll never trust a video of a player shooting jumpers and making them in a non game situation as long as I live!!!
The NBA awards have been announced. The MVP top three is one I didn’t expect. I’ll hold off on naming names because I wish I myself had tried to guess who won what. MVP, DPOY, ROY, 6MOY (easy guess), MIP (surprised me), COY (easy). Each award named first, second, third.
Dang. I saw something related to the All-NBA teams that I caught as a prediction. This caught me sleeping, thanks for the catch. I’ll edit. From the article you linked:
"In this article, we predict which players will end up going home with individual awards such as the MVP."
The official awards have not been announced.
