Amazing how easy the game is when you make shots. As great as Pickett was it could have been a 50+ point nite for him. He should have shot at least a dozen ft's. Since Shrew has been complaining about the non-calls against JP I watched the game specifically to see what the deal is. I counted at least 4 times that he was grabbed before he was able to catch the ball on the post. Illinois would grab as he came off screens to make sure the defender got thru and they did not have to switch. The play on the post was iffy in that Pickett was the one who initiates the contact more often than not, probably because he is 6 inches shorter than the opponent guarding him...

I heard the Illinois coach tried to recruit Pickett to Champaign in the handshake line last night.

Does anyone know if these next 2 games - both away against the bottom-feeding Big 10 teams - will actually be helpful in making the Dance? Or are they games that can't really help us, but can only hurt us (if we lose)?

If we win @Minny, @OSU, v. Rutgers and then take 1 of 2 against Maryland/Northwestern, is that enough to get us in ... or do we still need to make noise in the Big 10 tourney? What if, by some miracle, we sweep the final 5 regular season games? Still need some wins in the Big 10 tourney to move on?

I think they would help because other bubble teams could lose. It's like being ranked 12th in football and beating Rutgers. No big deal but maybe teams ranked 9th & 10th lose so we move ahead of them.

They will definitely help some. The place that it will help is with regard to Penn State away record. besides, the net ranking and quad 1234 stuff they will look at the records and metrics home versus away

A Gopher buddy gave me a couple of tix near the PSU bench. I’ll wave to all of you during the first TV timeout.

Nice wins against Minnesota and Illinois. Now take this momentum and beat Ohio State tonight!

At least in basketball we have a coach who knows how to coach and make the most of his limited material, and he doesn’t need to excuse his way out of criticism. I suspect when he recruits some bigs, and makes PSU a .500 team in the B1G, he will be tapped by a top program he will eventually put into elite status.
