Does anyone believe we can beat Purdue? What does it take to overcome that 7’4” freak of nature. He looks like Lurch!
Anyone know his hotel room number? I’m sure Chicago has some people who could ‘send him a message’ to sit out tomorrow

Hell, we lost almost the entire team to the portal 2 years ago, not to mention the entire recruiting class. Hence, the need for Jaylen.
2020 would have been an NCAA team if not for covid.

IMO 2021 might have been even better if not for the transfers. Lundy, Dread, Harrar, Brockinton, Jones, and Wheeler. Not sure if we would have had Pickett.

Taking PSU +3.5 was EASY MONEY today.

But Purdue at -6 against PSU ... may cause me to bet against Penn State.

4th straight game ... we already stamped our ticket to the Dance ... and going up against that is a terrible mismatch for us and has beat us up both time we played them.

Today’s game was the first game this season that I’d had a chance to watch Penn State basketball (don’t get BTN). I had been following the games via Yahoo and lurking in the threads. Seemed to me that in the last couple games of the season and thus far in the BTT, Penn State did a great job of “not fading” and fighting to the end.

Watching some of today’s game, the team looks a lot better than in previous years. A lot more movement and a lot less standing around. They make mistakes but overcome them, and overcome bad calls. In past years, the team would’ve folded most times when faced with the other team taking a small lead late, and then chucking up bad shots. This team seems a lot more poised and controlled.

Coach Shrewsberry (looks like the "real deal") and the entire team deserve credit for putting forth a great effort this season. Hopefully this will the first of many.

Let Edey get his tomorrow. The key to beating Purdue is to not let their guards run wild off the inevitable double teams on Edey. In the first matchup that Sparty had with Purdue, they didn't double Edey one time, let him get his 28-30, but kept it close because they handled their guards until the final minute. In the loss at the Palestra, PSU did well on defense for the first 25-30 minutes but then their offensive troubles started catching up with them and they laxed at the defensive end.

Really, this is PSU's shot. You have a team making noise in the Big 10 tourney. You have a team capable of making noise in the Big Dance. You have buzz for a PSU basketball coach to be desired by some traditionally big time landing spots ... what bigger statement could you make than to announce a long-term extension for the man when the chatter is at its peak? Send the message to recruits right now that PSU means business.

I mean, it may or may not pay off, but it's entirely the best shot we've had to make a move into continued national relevance since I've been paying attention to PSU basketball for the last 3-4 decades or so.

It has been only 2 seasons. But Shrewsberry has already the best conference play pct. at 0.425 among all psu coaches since big 10 play.

It isn’t unheard of for a coach to shoot down job rumors during the season and leave after the season. This may not pertain to Shrewsberry, but it happens.
Agreed. To me that was a non-denial/denial, and money, for him, his staff, and the program, may not be the only issue.
For reasons all his own, he may feel more comfortable coaching at Notre Dame or Georgetown. I think it's very much an open question as to whether he's here next season. I have come to believe he is the one, perhaps the only one, who can make Penn State relevant in basketball. If he goes I fear this magical season will not soon be repeated.

I honestly think with Kraft, he is not going anywhere. If Sandy was still here, he would be gone after season ends.

Edey allows Purdue perimeter defenders to really get out on our shooters and defend. Pickett backing his defender into the post is a non-issue because a 7-4 guy will be waiting for him. Purdue does not have to worry about a PSU guy taking them to the rim, Edey is waiting for them. So Purdue's defensive game plan is to force PSU to shoot contested 3's, force PSU to try and make a living driving to the rim. Long rebounds mean easy run outs...4th game in 4 days means heavy legs. Glad we are here but I am not optimistic. Of course, PSU was getting 4 yesterday, I would have laid major coin on IU to cover, so WTH do I know...

See, that was easy. Why did Franklin have such a hard time saying something like this?
He did, it just wasn’t good enough for many posters on here because he didn’t proclaim his undying commitment to Penn State. Shrews said pretty much the same thing Franklin said.
