Not that it bears on the discussion but what pray tell is the average team age difference between PSU and Meat?

so the only PSU match in the Consolation R3 is #16 seed Brady Berge vs. #10 seed Peyton Robb (Nebraska)

The consolation R3 matches are taking place on all 8 matches. Currently, 133 and 141 matches are taking place, so a bit of a wait until we get to Berge's match.

You know what's obscene. Michigan having 242.5 point potential vs. our 185.

that always happens when a team has a lot of wrestlers in consolations. The Max Potential has to assume that all of those guys in consolations will win every one of their matches, and pin their opponent in each of those matches.

Every time a Michigan wrestler doesn't advance, or doesn't pin their opponent, the Michigan maximum potential will drop. It's now down to 218.

How can other teams have the potential to outpoint us if we’re currently leading and have the most semifinalists and only one less in the consolation round?

141 Consolation R3: #2 seed Jaydin Eierman (Iowa) vs. #24 seed Stevan Micic (Michigan). Two guys that were hoping to still be in the winner's bracket

Most years we won it all had similar possibilities ….. we generally don’t have much on the back end.

Quarter Finals Done

PSU - 6 SF, 1 left in consolation (still to wrestle)
UM 5 in SF, 2 left in consolation, 2 left to wrestle?
IOWA- 2 SF, 4 in consolation, 2 left to wrestle?
AZ - 4 SF, 1 consolation, 2 to wrestle.

PSU has tough road to beat UM, who are just winning matches, well coached. Kerk is not likely to beat Stevenson. 5 possible in Finals. Tough matches upcoming

You're being facetious, right?
Not being facetious at all. As Tom explained above, it's not unusual. Even given the potential points differential, I think PSU is looking good for the team title. But tournaments being what they are, I won't be confident until the end of the final match tomorrow night.

Personally, and a la last year when Penn St had 4 nat’l champs to Iowankers 1, and Iowankers won the team natty, EVERYONE felt they’d 100% rather be in Penn St’s position with 4 nat’l champs than having decent placing ‘extras’. Thus, I think the present scoring system is not the right methodology. It will only change when Iowankers decide it should

Just brutal for Eierman. He clearly could not go on. That does give Michigan 2.5 more points, however.

Berge coming up.

157 Consolation R3: #16 seed Brady Berge vs. #10 seed Peyton Robb (Nebraska) (I'll use PR)

Per 1
PR with a thug-bye and gets behind and trips Berge to the mat for the TD, 0-2. They are OOB with 2:08 left. Berge works up and is out, 1-2. PR with a double and they are OOB with 49 sec. left. Nebraska throws the brick, as they think PR got the TD before being OOB. Video review. After review, the TD is awarded. 1-4. Berge to his feet, and is out, 2-4. Berge shoots, nothing. Berge reaches for an ankle, nothing. End.

Per 2
PR takes bottom. He's up and out, 2-5. PR snaps down, nothing. Berge shoots, nothing. PR shoots a head inside single, nothing as Berge sprawls. End. RT @ 13 sec for PR

Per 3
Berge takes bottom. A semi roll, nothing, then Berge grabs a foot and then he's up and out, 3-5. 1:30 left. Berge min deep on a double, then PR iwht a body lock. Danger zone signaled against Berge and 2 awarded to PR, then waved off. Now the officials elect to do a video review. After review, the TD is awarded. 3-7. 1:02 left. Berge works to his feet, is returned. He's up again, spins in and gets a leg but a stalemate with 27 sec left. RT is now over 1 min for PR. Berge hits a roll but nothing from it. Heworks to his base then his feet, but is returned. PR throws in a boot but Berge grabs it, and time runs out. With RT point added, Berge drops a 3-8 decision to Peyton Robb, and his tournament is over.

Somewhere UM needs to lose it’s a two team race just like Bigs,

UM 5 SF, 8 wrestlers alive
PSU 6 SF, 6 wrestlers alive.
