Does Berge still have his coaching job after this lackluster tourney?
Completely unnecessary comment. First of all, Berge didn't have to come back at all. He could've stayed in his coaching job and certainly no one would've thought the less of him for it. He came back because he still wanted to wrestle and likely thought he could do better than either of the other two options Penn State had at his weight -- and obviously the staff agreed with him. The team points he, and for that matter Drew Hildebrandt as well, earned may turn out to be critical should PSU hold on to win this year.

Riddler out...Iowa fading fast. Wished he'd have beaten Micic.
Brands idea of bringing back all the grandfathers didn’t work out. From invincible at beginning of season to a bust. Can score some point wrestling back to make it look respectable.

Did the Riddler try to wrestle at all? The paranoid me wonders if the Brands might have been happy to have him ID and give Michigan extra bonus points.

How many matches have you won at nationals? He lost to the guy who beat Carr and a very good Peyton Robb, and got us more points then we would have gotten at 57 without him. It's not a great look when fans bash the athletes when we're losing but it takes a special kind of dick to bash them when we're in the lead at Nationals.

David, David, David, too much paranoia. Eierman was wrestling. After he was taken down and they went OOB, he limped back to the center. I can't recall if it was in the scramble as he tried to get out, or if he escaped and it was in the scramble after he was taken down, but he signaled to the ref that he was injured, and they called the trainer to him. That took some time, but he gave it a go again. After another scramble where I believe he was taken down, and they were OOB, he signaled to the ref that he was in pain. The trainer and coaches came over to him. At that point, they decided that he couldn't wrestle any more.

There are reports coming into the NCAAs that he had injured his knee, and he wrestled with a big brace on the leg/knee. I think he gave it all he had, and just couldn't do it anymore. I doubt it was intentional, but Micic kept ending up in situations where he was working on the injured leg, and/or torquing the injured knee. It appeared to be natural wrestling progressions.

Micic is having a very nice tournament. One has to give UM credit, they have a heck of a team top to bottom and they wrestle hard all the time. If we have a good night tonight, things will be fine.

133 Semis: #1 seed RBY vs. #5 seed Austin DeSanto (Iowa) Always wild, like our chances
141 Semis: #1 seed Nick Lee vs. #4 seed Real Woods (Stanford) Woods is very dangerous, like our chances
174 Semis: #1 seed Carter Starocci vs. #4 seed Hayden Hidlay (NC State) I can't see how anyone built like HH every loses, just like Bo Jordan, like our chanes
184 Semis: #2 seed Aaron Brooks vs. #3 seed Tent Hidley (NC State) like our chances
197 Semis: #1 seed Max Dean vs. #21 seed Gavin Hoffman (Ohio State) like our chances
285 Semis: #4 seed Greg Kerkvliet vs. #1 seed Gable Steveson (Minnesota) Steveson could have the Riddler's knee and he would win.

125 - (1) Suriano v (4) Courtney (ASU) Nick has really improved, UM wins
•133 - (6) Raguson v (7) Byrd (Illinois) - conso Rag wrestles hard all the time, UM wins
•141 - (24) Micic v (12) Composto (Penn) conso Micic victory
•157 - (8) Lewan v (5) Monday (Princeton) Go Princton Lewan has improved. When he shoots, he is very deadly. Great positioning and hand fighting.
•165 - (6) Amine v (2) O’Toole (Missouri) Amine having a great tourney, Keegan has to win
174 - (3) Massa v (2) Lewis (VT) Should be wild, Massa is relentless attacking UM wins
184 - (1) Amine v (5) Traut (Cal Poly) UM win
•HWT- (7) Parris v (13) Orndorf (OSU) conso UM win

Looking at this, even with a 5-1 night for PSU, UM closes the gap.

Obviously, I had no idea what transpired in the Micic/Eirman match, but the young man made a go of it, so kudos to him for trying.

This season certainly didn't turn out the way Iowa thought at the beginning of the year. Even after Spencer said he was sitting out, they looked great on paper.

Not being facetious at all. As Tom explained above, it's not unusual. Even given the potential points differential, I think PSU is looking good for the team title. But tournaments being what they are, I won't be confident until the end of the final match tomorrow night.
If we get four or five champions, we’ll win.

a good evaluation.

125: Suriano vs. Courtney. I'd be surprised if Suriano didn't win, as he's looked good this year (except against Hildebrandt). The tease, so to speak, on this match is they probably spent a lot of time wrestling while Nick was training at ASU, so each of them may feel as though they have some insights in how to defeat the other. Plus, the ASU coaches should have a good read on Nick.

133: Raguson vs. Byrd is an interesting match. They faced each other in Nov. and Raguson won 5-2. They faced each other 2 weeks ago at B1Gs, and Byrd won 3-1 in SV

141: Micic vs. Composto is tough to prognosticate, as they've never faced each other in college. Micic isn't what he was 2 or 3 years ago, and yet he's still alive at NCAAs.

157: Lewan vs. Monday. I hope Monday pulls it out, as it would be a feel-good story. They met in December, and Lewan won 6-3

165: C. Amine vs. K. O'Toole. C. Amine has looked better than I expected in the tournament. The actually met at last year's NCAAs, and Amine won 5-2. Keegan has looked good in this tournament. I could see this going either way

174: Massa vs. Lewis -- 2 guys that have not met in college. Another toss-up match, IMHO.

184: M. Amine vs. Traux. Once again, 2 guys that have not met in college. I'd be stunned if Amine doesn't win. Then again, I haven't seen too much of Truax, so I hesitate to be so certain. I think the match will be close

285: Parris vs. Orndorff. This could be ugly. They met in January and Parris pinned Orndorff. They met last year in a dual, and Parris TFed Orndorff.
