Here's some more random thoughts. Don't take Ranger out after 63 pitches. Two hits a **** defense around him. Efflin has given up runs in all his post season outings.
Here's a 6th inning random thought. Baseball is not like the other sports. There are so many ups and downs in these post-season games. The fans involved have upped their daily meds. I'm sure outside of the four cities left, no one cares.Phils got lucky as Eflin gets Bell to ground into a double play (4-6-3).
3-2, Phillies, heading to the bottom of the 6th
So Rob takes out Ranger early and will burn the whole bullpen tonight. Does this game now become a must? Captain Obvious says yes!
I agree. Also sets up for Wheeler on Sunday with 5 days rest, Nola on Monday if needed with 5 days rest and Ranger on Tuesday if needed with 5 days rest.Great move to take ranger out when they did. You can’t let him face machado and drury for a third time in that big of a game. Only reliever down for tomorrow is seranthony and will be a bullpen game for both teams as both starters are likely only going 3/4 innings. 3 from Falter, 2 from Syndegard, 1 from bellatti, 1 from eflin, 1 from Robertson, 1 from alvarado would be the ideal plan.
The biggest question I have for Thomson is Nola game 6 or game 7 with extra rest day assuming it’s 3-2 Philly after 5.
Nola on 4 day rest v. extra day of rest have been very different. He is right now about 40 innings over last year and has also exceeded his career high at this point in innings. I think Nola has to tell you. It’s their makeup to always take the ball but I think it’s worth having a discussion. If this thing gets to 6, you pitch Nola. No doubt. Let tomorrow worry about itself!
