Gotta go to the pen. We've seen this before. Gotta cut it off. Although i don't like the choice of Hand cuz his pitching philosophy consists of getting batters to chase balls. If they are patient, he'll walk batters.

Unlike Wheeler Nola sometimes struggles when he has a batter with 2 strikes. That hit by his brother is a good example. If he strikes him out he may have gotten out of that inning 4-3 at worst.

Drop Nick in the order, he is lost again at the plate.
His swing is the exact same swing on the exact same path every pitch. Why anyone throws him anything middle in is a mystery to me. Work the outside portion of the plate or better yet something that slides away from right handed hitters and he has no chance.

The Schwarber contract was a huge win for Dombrowski. Castellanos has been a disaster in every regard. The only lineup change I would make this moment would be to push Castellanos and his flailing *** down at 8 or 9. Bat Stott, Segura or Marsh behind Harper. Anything is better protection than Mr. Bloop singles guy.

We have a good shot at landing Trea Turner but even with Harper back in RF next year Castellanos would even be a terrible DH in a mostly great lineup. Unless he somehow finds himself. He seems like he is miserable since day 1 as a Phillie.

Schwarber’s importance in the locker room was also a big factor in his signing. Wherever he has been, he has been a huge clubhouse favorite. Harper is your best player, but he leads more by his play on the field.

I think and hope that Nick will be closer to the player he was in 2021 next year than the player he was in 2022. Signing late, new city, etc can often feel like you’re pushing uphill all season long. Let’s hope. He was so good in 2021.

I agree that Turner seems like a perfect fit for the Phillies. He wants to come back East and Harper certainly will push for him given their relationship. But if he commands more and that pinches them in say the pen, don’t overlook Xander Bogaerts who Dombrowski has a very good relationship with. If it comes down to who Harper wants v. who the GM wants, I would think it’s who Harper wants. But if the salary is different and you are pinched in not adding a better piece to the pen as a result, you very easily could see Xander.

I like the way Suarez pitched in the top of the 1st.

Come on Fightins, start swinging those bats early and often and jump on Musgrove.

Fightins could have broken the game open in the bottom of the 1st. After Schwarber's HR, the next 2 guys worked walks, bringing Bryce up with 1st & 2nd and no out. Alas, he grounded into a double play, and then Castellanos followed with a ground out to SS.

1-0, Phillies after 1 inning

unfortunately, it was followed by a SF by Segura, then a strikeout by Marsh.

Still 1-0, Phillies thru 2

ugh, Padres have 1st & 3rd with 1 out, and Suarez gets a ground ball to SS which looks like a tailor-made double play. Unfortunately, Segura didn't catch the flip, so Padres score a run and 1st & 2nd with 1 out.

Fightins get out of the inning without any more damage. 1-1 in the middle of the 4th

Castellanos is killing us with the bat. Bryce with a lead-off single, and Castellanos grounds it to SS for a double play. And then Bohm follows it with a single.

Other than a game or two here and there, Castellanos has been a huge disappointment with his bat this season.

Segura bails them out, as he flares a single with men on 2nd & 3rd, and plates both of them.

3-1, Fightins in the bottom of the 4th, with 2 out.

Hoskins butchers a chopper to 1st base to lead off the 5th inning.

Phils D is not helping their cause.

back-to-back grounders to SS plate the Grisham (was on 2nd due to Hoskins error)

3-2, Phils, with 2 out in the top of the 5th

Thanks Rhys, your pathetic defense again gives them a run. Can't Bryce play first base?
