10-2, Phils, heading to the bottom of the 7th. Phils with 9 hits and 10 runs.

Girardi managing as if he is a dead man walking. He will be gone by May.

I've been following this Twitter account since it's inception and this is a first for me. Ump had a game.

That's a heck of a night for the umpire! If only the Phillies could have come even slightly close to matching it.

Such a major disappointment. Another fine display of ineptitude last night. I think we all knew this team would have its issues, but man. This has been hard to watch.

From what I’ve seen on TV and in person Familia is average to poor. I’m glad the Mets let him go.
I blame it on being in the successless Phillies bullpen now, but you probably have a good point here as well.

Same old story. Critical fielding miscues, leaving too many runners on base, lots of solo home run, trouble with the breaking ball, bullpen inconsistent and starters very average. All this with a team over the luxury tax. Like last year, the team will tempt us at times then eventually not make the playoffs

As much as I want to dump on the Phils right now it is way to early for me to turn to football season. So I'm still on board at least until July.

I share the frustration some have exhibited in this thread. That said, it's far too early to leap to any conclusions about the team, or to give up on them. First, the truncated spring training due to the contract situation has impacted some teams more than others. Second, it's an 162-game season. 17 games into the season doesn't mean a great deal in the grand scheme.

I'll be with the team at least until September, when college and pro football starts up. If the Phightins are totally out of it by Sep. 1, then I'll taper off my following of the team. But with the hitting that the Phightins have, I think once they get a number of things in the lineup sorted out, and the pitching improves (Wheeler did very little during the offseason, and as such is behind where you would expect him to be, etc.), I think the team will be competitive.

The Phillies will hit eventually and will hit a lot. Too much track record and data showing they will. However the pen is still way below average and the defense is somehow worst then that. Those 2 areas put way too much pressure on a team to be successful. I also feel like their starting pitching is way overrated. I am gonna worry all year about wheelers arm and injures. He has a past of being inconsistent and injured, match that with probably being overworked last year, especially late when it didn’t matter. The lack of spring and kind of rushing to get back in the rotation won’t bode well for him long term. I think he experiences multiple little things that creep up on him all year. Hopefully he doesn’t over compensate and create bigger problems

Agree with ya there. Yesterday's game certainly showed a lot of what you're saying here. Just need to have a strong homestand here.

Phils pull it out in bottom of the 8th, load the bases, and lo and behold, Bohm delivers a two run single followed by a Camargo single for a 4-2 win!

Loved the at bats by Realmuto and Bohm in the eighth. They went with the pitch for singles to the opposite field. With Bohm, the Brewers were burned by the shift since a straight up defense would likely have resulted in a double play. The 3-4-5 batters each had two hits and it was great to see timely hitting. Games like that can light a fire under a team.

So Nola finally with a great game and lo and behold the offense goes missing...this early in the season it has seems very infrequent to have games in which various aspects of the game (starting pitching, relief pitching, offense, defense...) match well for the Phillies within the same game...creating a frustration somewhat like that expressed by Smoky in "Friday" (never have 2 things that match):

Maybe the best ejection in Phillies history. It's up there, at the very least. But that Girardi didn't do it first is maddening.

Phils badly need 3-1 or 4-0 against Colorado. Good start last night.
