You serious clark?

If he can help the team, of course I want him. Our wideout room needs help, they lacked speed and strength, had trouble getting off the line in press, and had trouble getting open against both man and zone. Where Fleming was on their depth chart is irrelevant. OSU has consistently had high-end NFL talent up and down their WR roster, we don't. If Fleming is in our top3, he helps the team.
The fact is that if Fleming didn't have a 5 star rating coming out of high school and his evaluation was based on his age, injury history, and lack of production over 4 seasons....he wouldn't be considered as a top 15 receiver prospect in the portal.

We fried Franklin when he didn’t land fleming coming out of high school. I’m looking forward to a second frying when he doesn’t land fleming out of the portal.

Franklin attended his game as a sophomore , it was a two year drama . I wouldn't waste a phone call on him. There are others out there in the portal at least as good but plenty more better.

Its mostly heresay (although there were pictures)that he did the coaches dirty. They went to see him thinking he was a PSU lean and then he wore OSU gloves at the game they were there to witness. If true, it would take someone better than me to invite him to play for my team.

Overrated out of high school, sure. Overrated now? If you say so. But if he's big and fast and can get open and catch the ball, he's useful to Penn State. We could have used him this year.

I'm a Southern Alum. For those that remember, I'm sorry to bring it up again. I see my old teammates (and I mean old) about once a year. They were pretty clear Julian wasn't going to PSU. As I recall guess from them was Clemson or Alabama. OSU was somewhat of a surprise. I have no problem with the kid going to the school of his choice. I did have a problem with his explanation after his choice....sometimes it's best to say nothing. Also, don't think Shorter's Father helped that situation. Ironic, that both prospects were vastly over valued by the services.
IMO, if you are going to dedicate a scholarship and NIL money to a "one year wonder," I'd save for an impact player.
To be clear, Julian Fleming is well thought of at SCA and Ohio State. A team player, hard worker and good teammate. He's been hampered by a chronic shoulder injury that has never properly healed. He's just not going to get playing time a OSU anymore, hence his covid year has to be somewhere else.

For exactly $0.00, Matt Rhule could learn to stop completely wetting the bed on game day - and allow his team to win 3 more games a year. That would be a nice return on investment :)

That was a clownish comment by Rhule, designed to deflect and alibi. Playing to the lowest common denominator. That's a real shame. I have to think he can do a lot better than that - I am sure he can. But, obviously, it has become par for the course among so many college football HCs.

Amazing how nearly EVERY program (as per their HC) is at this huge disadvantage because of NIL (the most recent whipping boy) - when everyone knows that relative advantage has to be a zero-sum game.
The thing many college football head coaches are best at has become gaslighting and alibiing. It used to be coaching and recruiting. Alas. I guess that is one of the outcomes of guys being paid Lotto-winner contracts, and then feeling they have to defend/deflect their lack of any rare ability.
Give em 10 years…

Anyone with a boat load of cash 💰, and who is willing to spend it could buy a good team with what’s already in the portal.
