Did you guys see the press conference with Rhule where he is asked about getting players from the portal? He said a good QB in the portal costs $1-$2 million in NIL. 😳I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but it’s a bidding war. That does help explain why some kids transfer to places that make you curious as to why.

Not that I've seen/heard. The buzz seems to be that they prefer the Harvard DT to the Penn DT, and are also looking to see who else enters the portal.
Harvard kid seems to have the metrics and was a stud wrestler.I read he was favoring Michigan 🤢. But who knows ?
( I read the same eleven warrior article LB99 has linked below )

I wish PSU could have got the UVa center that transferred to Michigan 2 yrs ago. If this kid goes there too and pans out to be a really good player, it will be a kick to the nuts.

For exactly $0.00, Matt Rhule could learn to stop completely wetting the bed on game day - and allow his team to win 3 more games a year. That would be a nice return on investment :)

That was a clownish comment by Rhule, designed to deflect and alibi. Playing to the lowest common denominator. That's a real shame. I have to think he can do a lot better than that - I am sure he can. But, obviously, it has become par for the course among so many college football HCs.

Amazing how nearly EVERY program (as per their HC) is at this huge disadvantage because of NIL (the most recent whipping boy) - when everyone knows that relative advantage has to be a zero-sum game.
The thing many college football head coaches are best at has become gaslighting and alibiing. It used to be coaching and recruiting. Alas. I guess that is one of the outcomes of guys being paid Lotto-winner contracts, and then feeling they have to defend/deflect their lack of any rare ability.

Graduate students can enter at any time.

Athletes are allowed to announce their intention to enter the portal in advance of the transfer window, which is what virtually all the announcements are at this time.

Each sport has a transfer window. For football, the 1st day they can officially enter the portal (transfer window) is 12/4. The final day of the window is 1/2/24.

The mechanism is:
- once the portal opens (12/4), the athlete must provide their current school with a written request to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal
- the athlete has to be academically eligible
- they can not have previously transferred from another four-years institution

Also, there is not supposed to be any communication between an athlete and another school's athletic staff prior to the athlete entering the portal. If an athlete does eventually transfer, both they and the new school's head coach must certify in writing that neither direct nor indirect communication took place between the athlete and the new school's athletic staff prior to the athlete entering the portal.

Not that I've seen/heard. The buzz seems to be that they prefer the Harvard DT to the Penn DT, and are also looking to see who else enters the portal.
Thank you.

Somewhere in Dallas, an SMU booster from the mid 1980's is happy he got a bargain while he could.

Just when I think college football coaches make way too much, transfer portal season opens and I realize they probably make $15 per hour given their time vs salary.
