Coaches that realize that recruiting guys that can shoot the ball is better than just going after guys who can run fast and jump high usually have more success. PSU is outplaying NW all over the floor yet they’re only winning by 2 because NW can shoot the ball. PSU is 1-8 from the three point line and NW is 4-6.

PSU up 40-32 at the half. If PSU could even shoot moderately well from the three point line they could win a lot of games. Clary with 14 points and having a heck of a game. I hope we can keep him next year. He’s a player.

Have these guys from NW been around since Obama was president or what? Holy smokes they’ve been around forever it seems.

Had every opportunity to win this one, but pissed it away. Someone please put a leash on Ace Baldwin.

PSU basketball has to be nearly 10 points better than a conference opponent. Just like PSU football has to be about 2 TDs better than either Ohio State or Michigan. That's how it has been since the early 90s.

@Grant Green - How many points should I be adding onto opponents when setting lines for PSU basketball games? Do you give the 14 point adjustment on the football side?

Part of the issue too is that we shoot too many 3's. Teams can win while not shooting great behind the arc, but not when you shoot a bunch of 3's. Rhoades' VCU teams over the past few seasons weren't great from behind the arc, but they also took a lot fewer 3's.

What play should they have reviewed but didn't?
Kerns hitting the ball off the rim and ref calling Kerns for a lane violation when he actually didn’t. We got the rebound and could have potentially hit the game tieing shot.

True, but we don’t shoot very well from inside the arc either. Driving and hoping for a foul call is not a great plan. Did Rhoades’ teams at VCU at least pass the ball because we seem to be allergic to that most of the time.

That is unfortunate especially when it was so wrong of a call. They didn’t even huddle to discuss it.
Unfortunately, once Carstensen missed the call in "real-time", there isn't anything to do to change it. Can't go to video, and he's the only one with an angle to see the play. It would be like huddling after a bang-bang call at 1st in a baseball game (pre-video review)...it's his call and if he blows it, nothing can/will change.

Played Purdue -17.5 today (first time this year I played against us)…really bad matchup. We’ll need to hit outside shots to hang around. Hoping that we can play better than I’m expecting.

Perfect example of why I don’t bet college sports…you just never know.

The game earlier in the week: NW 79-PSU 73.

Over/under was 153.5. The PSU dunk waved off at the buzzer was the maker or breaker!

^ It was FUN.

The team looked really well coached tonight. They were outmanned in the middle but somehow just outworked Wisconsin. With the weather the crowd was held down but the atmosphere was still exciting and I loved that the students rushed the court. Hopefully Rhodes is building something. I know it will take time but this game showed promise.
