#2 is where my eternal optimist currently resides.

2) Perhaps the Eagles believe a new defensive coaching staff can help Bradberry turn things around. Defensive coordinators Sean Desai and Matt Patricia and secondary coach D.K. McDonald were all fired, replaced by Vic Fangio and three new defensive back coaches. Bradberry’s history has been that he’s followed weaker seasons (2017, 2019, 2021) with significantly better seasons (2018, Pro Bowl in 2020, 2nd-team all-pro in 2022). Maybe the Eagles think that can happen again.

And currently he’s got next to 0 trade value. Plus if they cut him, that’s a BIG dead money hit (17.238m). Bring him back, hope he rebounds even a little, and trade/cut him. Dead cap goes from 17m to 12m. Still bad but not as bad as 17.

One down……

that was expected, in a combination of how much cap space he was taking up, and how his performance for the Birds was nothing special. They gave up some draft picks and a player for him, and it's not as though he was the biggest problem with last season's D, but I suspect would pass on the trade if they had it all to do over again.

So this takes them to about $43 million in cap space? It’s hard to know how much lay with Byard vs a poor pass rush or overall scheme. But you can’t argue with having options to help Fangio at other positions.

Feels like the end of an era folks….

today at 1300

here’s the wildcard: “after careful consideration, I do not like the way that this past season ended. If I go out now, it will always leave a sour taste in my mouth. With that said, this upcoming 2024 season will be my last.”

…… a guy can hope, can’t he?

Rewatching the video of the announcement, I haven't gotten this verklempt over sports since the Phillies won the 2008 series and broke the Billy Penn hat curse that plagued the city since the Sixers NBA Championship in1983.

My dream scenario (besides him coming back for another year) is for them to hire him as assistant OL coach under Stout and groom him to replace Stout when he retires from coaching.

They have I don’t know if they think he’ll replace him or not. Their long time asst OL coach left to go to Cleveland in the same position. Idk what that means. It wasn’t for a promotion.

tough to pick a Birds' Mt. Rushmore, but Roob makes a good case for the ones he picked, and the ones he left off.
