What's on the smoker? I thought about making something yesterday but my luck it would need to come off, @Tom McAndrew and I would be trading bouts back and forth, and it would be ruined. Lol.
A pork loin and a beef brisket. Will smoke during this round ( 2 hrs ) then wrap and continue for another 4. Should be ready to eat around 5.

Call it a first place feast. Going on beer run now, taking pop along. At 91, he just likes getting out of the house.

And if he wants to medically forfeit out, fine, I guess. I don’t agree with it, But at least show up and support your teammates who are wrestling today!!!
This was done so that he won’t have to face the music of “how did you lose”?

damn, where was my invite? That sounds delicious. Alas, you're up in that cold corner of the Commonwealth. ;)

Enjoy. Sounds like a good meal to enjoy in advance of the Finals

I agree 💯. would have been a real class move to show up today mff or not and support guys like murin finally being an AA. his absence is troubling and show a lack of true character.

Pacing for their worst finish since in a decade if not more. Lose Ferrari obviously hurt. Then Fix lost, which didn’t help in the team race.
After Ferrari won the 197 lb. title last year, it was the perfect set up for a made up Penn State insider "Jeopardy" question:

Ferrari is from Allen, Texas. Can you name one other 197 lb. national champion whose home town is Allen, TX?

I read the previous posts on this boards with rationale. All things being equal in the Finals, I would go with Parris.

We should all cut Spencer Lee and his mom some slack. He was 5 feet below the summit he had been preparing to climb his whole life since he was probably 5 or 6 years old. My heart broke for both of them. It's unfortunate the thing with his mom was caught on video - I am sure she won't feel great about that, but I certainly understand.
I don’t know if it was “unfortunate” as they were showing his mom & family all tournament long. It’s unfortunate what her post-match antics were. I get the disappointment, I don’t get the immaturity of what she did.

Paris has to defeat Kerk. If Kerk wins maybe RBY moves up for consideration as he now has the longest winning streak.

Great effort from Max Dean to wrestle back for 7th, above his seed!!!
We know he has what it takes to win it all, but that’s just hard to do especially undersized as he is.
Glad to have had him in the program!

197 7th/8th Match:
#9 seed Max Dean vs. #10 seed Jacob Cardenas (Cornell) (I'll use JC)

Per 1
Dean reaches, then JC on a counter gets a leg and trips Dean down for the TD, 0-2. OOB with 2:19 left. Dean to his feet and he's out, 1-2. JC shoots and gets a single, they scramble, Dean close to putting JC in danger, and Dean gets the TD, 3-2. End. RT @ ??

Per 2
JC defers, and Dean takes bottom. Dean out in @ 4 - 5 sec, 4-2. JC shoots, Dean hustles, and the buzzer sounds. End.

Per 3
JC takes neutral. Dean reaches for a single, nothing. Stoppage with 1 min left for hands to the face. JC sort of shoots, nothing. JC to a knee, nothing. 30 sec left. JC sort of shoots, nothing. End. It's a 4-2 DEC for Max Dean. He finishes in 7th place!!!

Max Dean to ESPN, fighting through tears and sporting a gnarly black eye:

"I didn't quite get what I came here for, but I'm proud of my effort and really proud of our team. I'm sad it's done. It's meant a lot to me. Cael Sandeson is a leader. I know I needed him in my life. I'm just really grateful for him and everybody. I'm just so lucky. I don't know what my plans are. I'm just excited to watch my teammates tonight. I love wrestling. I'm grateful for everything it's done for me. I'm not rushing to get out of it. But, we'll see."

Great interview. Max is a class act and a smart, humble guy. Never made any excuses for not having the season he wanted. Just did what he had to do and dealt with the adversity. I’m glad he joined the PSU program. Best of luck young man. You have a bright future in whatever you do.

That’s a fair point, but I ain’t buying that he was hurt so bad that he couldn’t show up today & support his team mates. Come on Man
Though I have reason to doubt he has a physical injury, he’s probably mostly taking a mental health day. Understandable.

But not showing and supporting teammates is weak. At least put a wrap on a knee (if only for optics) and be there.

What’s does our wrestling room look like next year for our experts here?
As with any program, there are a few question marks, but if Howard comes back at full strength then it makes the transition a lot easier. 133 and 197 will have new faces. Who that may be, remains to be seen. RBY and Dean will be missed. If Levi can’t hold 157 and bumps up, then 157 is a question mark also. The 4 (not counting RBY) in the finals, along with Beau and SVN all return next year barring any unforeseen events.
