Anyone surprised Levis didn’t go in the first round? Not me. If he couldn’t beat out SC out for starter, with Clifford likely going to be an UDFA. What does that say about Levis to the NFL front office people in charge of talent acquisition? Not that I have anything against Levis, and I actually like the guy, but to me he is no first round talent.
If Levis isn't first round talent then what is Richardson? To me Richardson is a bigger version of Taysom Hill.

He was a very big reach, although his athletic numbers are supposedly off the charts and why some team might be antsy to grab him. He is supposed to have the best athletic numbers ever seen in a QB such as speed, agility, arm strength, size, etc. However, this got him around a 50 percent passing percentage in CFB, similar to Josh Allen. The Colts are trying to catch lightning in a bottle in the same vein Buffalo did. We shall see, but his play was very erratic at UF.

His performance at the combine made too many talking heads and at least one NFL front office forget that his game tape and stats raise serious questions about his ability to play the position. At very least, he needs a whole lot of work, and I don't know that practice reps will give him what he needs. If you put him one the field, you're risking Zach Wilson-like results while hoping the needed improvements happen. The young man is an extraordinary athlete, and I haven't heard any concerns about his character or work ethic, but that's far from a guarantee that he will develop into a serviceable NFL QB much less a good or great one.

All true, but I think Richardson is worth the risk. You don’t need a great great arm to be a Super Bowl winning QB but it doesn’t hurt and Richardson has a Bradshaw arm. He’ll be fun to watch; he might not end up being good but he’ll never be boring.

Levis was either going to go to Indianapolis at #4 or he’d be waiting a long time. It might have been nothing more than a coin flip that made Richardson #4, who knows?

The pressure these players are under, wow.

LionJim....Yep I left that out thus not to be overly "Get off my lawn" along with a specific undertone-;) It really bothers me, here's why...

Lets start with the clothes and jewelry===BE MODEST--your an Athlete not a Hollywood star or Musician ;)....most of your Audience doesn't like that look---most people think you look ridiculous and its not a great representation of your family name--mother or father or both.

The God stuff...sigh...stop being SHEEP....use your own words. Heres what you should say...

"I would like to thank my Mom and other family members, my youth coaches, my high school coach and the University of ABC." Why isnt their College Coaches or some mentor telling these boys that? Unless your really religious come on...I want them all to succeed...but some life skills in decorum is needed. And this is why Athletes wreck fast cars and have other issues off the field/court...SMH
Lets start with the clothes and jewelry===BE MODEST--your you are an Athlete not a Hollywood star or Musician (this is a ridiculous statement. Athletes are amongst the most elevated members of our society, whether you like it or not. Athletics has always been an elevated aspect of society dating back to the Greek Empire. Sheesh) ;)....most of your the cranky old white guys in Audience doesn't like that look---most people who are cranky old white guys think you look ridiculous and its not a great representation of your family name--mother or father or both.

And because we are cranky old white guys, we get to decide what is and what is not a great represeentation of your family name, and we have decided it's the way you dress for the NFL draft,; not the kids you have out of wedlock, not the way you barely kept yourself academically eligible, not way you have treated women - because those are all acceptable. It's just the way you dress for the NFL Draft.

The God stuff...sigh...stop being SHEEP....use your own words. Heres what you should say...

"I would like to thank my Mom and other family members, my youth coaches, my high school coach and the University of ABC."

So, you tell the players to stop being Sheep, use their own words, and then you proceed to tell them what to say? Wouldn't that just make them....Sheep?

Good grief, dude, you are a bit of a hypocrite.

I like Peter Skoronski's approach to the draft. He may be the only sane person left in America.;)

Most of the players I saw wore some kind of diamond pendant, worth at least $10k, I’d say, though I really don’t know. I couldn’t help thinking of the numerous stories of pro athletes going broke five years after they retire.

Necklaces for men seem to be the new status symbol. SMH. I rarely do these get off my lawn posts but SMH. (MLB allowing necklaces on the field is just a joke, just taking the opportunity here.) Well, have a good day and don’t forget to contribute to the Friday jukebox! Now, off to the gym!
We all can remember Curtis Enis getting suspended because of a suit. In this capitalistic society of ours the players deserve whatever they can get for themselves but last night the sheer amount of bling I saw was a reminder of how much things have changed.

I kept thinking of John Urschel’s Ford Model T parked between two Hummers in the Ravens lot.

Don’t forget that Shane Steichen just turned Jalen Hurts into an MVP candidate. Hurts was pretty inaccurate passing, but had other strengths. Indy hired Steichen for this reason so taking a shot on Richardson makes sense.

I think Hurts has 100th percentile ability between the ears. That’s his secret. We’ll see on Richardson.

Hurts had very good college stats though. Richardson didn't. Hurts may have came across as an athlete playing QB, but at least he was a good QB. Richardson is an athlete who can throw the ball far, but he doesn't have any film that says he's good at it. It's a BIG reach that will likely get somebody fired.

From what I’ve heard this fella could have come out and been drafted third fourth round , in that area. But no he did the dumb thing, went back for his Senior year and became a first round choice!!! Every new contract he signs will be negotiated as a former first rd choice not a 4 th rd. Good for him for doing the smart thing!! I think others would do well following his example

22. Ravens: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

Grade: B

They needed to get a young receiver for their new offense under Todd Monken. I like Jordan Addison more, but this is a good move. Flowers is a really good player who was hurt by bad quarterback play at Boston College.

True. He completed 65% of 1,000 passes in college and had a rating of 163. Those stats are much better than Richardson.

It’s starting to look like Irsay may have driven that pick.

Well to be honest 1) the talent around him was better in ‘21 than in ‘22 AND 2) he was injured much of the year.
