Tim McCarver Syndrome, a common ailment that befalls many athletes that become commentators. They read their press clippings and start beleiving them. Same thing happened to Tony Romo. Riddick has the added disadvantage of being a Pittboy.
Paterno must of pissed in his mom’s Pennridge gravy…

LionJim....Yep I left that out thus not to be overly "Get off my lawn" along with a specific undertone-;) It really bothers me, here's why...

Lets start with the clothes and jewelry===BE MODEST--your an Athlete not a Hollywood star or Musician ;)....most of your Audience doesn't like that look---most people think you look ridiculous and its not a great representation of your family name--mother or father or both.

The God stuff...sigh...stop being SHEEP....use your own words. Heres what you should say...

"I would like to thank my Mom and other family members, my youth coaches, my high school coach and the University of ABC." Why isnt their College Coaches or some mentor telling these boys that? Unless your really religious come on...I want them all to succeed...but some life skills in decorum is needed. And this is why Athletes wreck fast cars and have other issues off the field/court...SMH

So, you want them to use their own words, but to all use the same generic, meaningless template that you put forth?

And even though they're entertainers, paid to entertain by throwing a ball around, catching a ball, running with a ball, or smashing into people, they should ... for some reason ... dress modestly, not like the people who play music or act ... even though NFL players wear a gaudy uniform to play the actual game?

Well, that's one take.

Here's another ... if you're going to post that incoherently and in such an illiterate fashion, maybe decide not to post at all.

Lets start with the clothes and jewelry===BE MODEST--your you are an Athlete not a Hollywood star or Musician (this is a ridiculous statement. Athletes are amongst the most elevated members of our society, whether you like it or not. Athletics has always been an elevated aspect of society dating back to the Greek Empire. Sheesh) ;)....most of your the cranky old white guys in Audience doesn't like that look---most people who are cranky old white guys think you look ridiculous and its not a great representation of your family name--mother or father or both.

And because we are cranky old white guys, we get to decide what is and what is not a great represeentation of your family name, and we have decided it's the way you dress for the NFL draft,; not the kids you have out of wedlock, not the way you barely kept yourself academically eligible, not way you have treated women - because those are all acceptable. It's just the way you dress for the NFL Draft.

The God stuff...sigh...stop being SHEEP....use your own words. Heres what you should say...

"I would like to thank my Mom and other family members, my youth coaches, my high school coach and the University of ABC."

So, you tell the players to stop being Sheep, use their own words, and then you proceed to tell them what to say? Wouldn't that just make them....Sheep?

Good grief, dude, you are a bit of a hypocrite.
Little hypocritical I get your points, I was paraphrasing what should be said ..but I got you

This picture is currently with the headline on espn.com. Is this Stillers’ fans reacting to the Porter pick?

Will Joey Porter Jr. become a Steeler or did the attics of Porter Sr casue the Steelers to avoild the son?
What antics are you referring to?

FYI. I’ve told this story before but it’s worth repeating. A friend of mine ran into Porter Sr. at the Miami airport after he left the Steelers and was with the Dolphins. My buddy went up to him and said he was a big Steeler fan and always liked his play and thanked him for his time in Pittsburgh. He said Porter was cordial, thanked him for his support, said he was appreciative, and that he will forever be a Steeler no matter what. Moral of the story, the emotional player you get on the field isn’t always the same friendly guy you get off of it.

So, I don’t know what attics you are referring to, but it didn’t casue the Steelers to avoid Jr.

He was known to get into altercations and stuff - was kicked out of a game for an on field pregame fight with another player. One of the few who leave Pittsburgh only to have a career year elsewhere…

Yes. And I bet every one of his teammates loved him for that intensity and emotion also. That fight was in pregame against the hated Browns and it takes two to tango. He had plenty of career years IN Pittsburgh. The guy let it all on the field.

I don’t disagree - one of my all time favorite Steelers. Just sayin’ he mixed it up a lot.
