UK looked….???? sad, wretched, choose your own word.

Will be interested to see if they press us and leave us in 1v1 open court situations.

Russell has not made the top 7 rotation and they are playing her at forward. She has 2 DNP coach’s decision. She will play more minutes than she did here but not that many more. And on a bad team. I am hoping good things will happen for her.
If you're interested, Russell 3 minutes of playing time are the last 3 minutes of the 2nd half. She had a really bad defensive lapse, which I assume is the reason she didn't get back in the game. Mental lapses and poor decision making continue to hold her back.

I don't know what to make of UK as a team. They beat Minnesota and only lost to VA Tech by 8 on the road . They could finish anywhere between 4th through 13th in the conference.

I hope Feagin stays with the program. With players like Johnson, Fulwiley, Kitts and Cooper on the roster, opposing teams will no longer be able to double and triple team our low post players.

I don’t get the deep worry from the board about Feagin leaving. Even if Beal and LA return they will not be playing the 4 or the 5. Even if she doesn’t start she is going to get 25-30 minutes a game.

I think LA is probably gone. She's improved so much she is getting a lot of wNBA draft hype.
Would she get more in the WNBA than with staying in college with NIL money? Going from fame and glory at USC to obscurity? Ha

WNBA doesn't pay much, but it's a guaranteed salary for a few months of play, and you can still get endorsement deals once you're a pro. Also, it helps your overseas opportunities where they pay more.

I've noticed that LA, Feagin and Johnson have yet to check into the game. I hope all is well there.

I don't think LA and Johnson are there, maybe went on holiday vacation? I saw Faegin though on the bench. Fletch is back on the bench holding a brace in her hands not wearing it though.

up 55. Not sure why Dawn still has Cardoso playing. She’s way too important to risk injury in this type of blowout

10-22 from 3, I could be wrong but I believe that's the most 3s we've made in at least a couple of years. After a 35 point first half we put up 52 in the 2nd half.

5 players in double figures including Kitts. I was impressed, she was breathing on a double double along with Beal. Our bench seems to be progressing some, now if we can only make these bunnies at a considerably higher rate.

The playera who didn't play seemed to be fully dressed but we're cheering on their teammates pretty hard and we're engaged.

In contrast, Saxton played 16 minutes. 2 points, 1 rebound, 3 turnovers and 2 fouls.

Against Charleston Southern!

C'mon. Dawn. Give Feagin some of those minutes.

I have always loved Saxton but she is not productive st all this year and yes I want Feagin to get more time! I think Dawn is still trying to get Sania up to speed on defense but I’m going to be devastated if she gets unhappy.

Fletcher's issue was a hit to her quad. Had nothing to do with a knee or ankle so I doubt you saw her holding a brace. She is fine and could have gone back in if dawn chose to send her back in.

Went to the chalk talk prior to the game yesterday. Debbie Boyer spoke for about 20 minutes across the gamut.

Started out honestly and a bit sheepishly about playing Charleston So. Talked about how it was not going to be a competitive game. Then explained why they were on the schedule.

Said that in July four top teams backed out of games with us. She did not name them, but if you have been paying attention you know they were; Duke, NCSU, Oregon, and Iowa.

Stated that at that point they actually did not have enough games scheduled to qualify to play in the NCAA TOURNAMENT!!

They offered Home and Home with two top 20 teams. They were told, “we would LOVE to, after your senior class graduates!” Basically said quality teams were ducking us as fast as they could.

Coach Staley knew their coach, Clarisse Garcia, and reached out. She agreed and DS rewarded🤣🤣them with a return game in Charleston next season.

She was asked about Chloe Kitts redshirting.
Her response was a simple “No” with a VERY BIG smile 😊

On a lighter note she said that the staff all had their ugly Christmas sweaters ready for the Wednesday game. Also said the “Teddy Bear Toss” would be a conference game it ensure a better crowd, so that it would rain teddy bears.

That's so lame, these type of coaches are cheating their players and the game. How do you expect to be the best and not play the best. I would much rather lose a regular season game and have an idea of what to work on for a future matchup rather than get embarrassed in the NCAA tournament.

It looked like a brace but it might have been on of those ice pack, or heat pack things. I saw her trying to put it on during another time out.

I am not expecting to get Kiyomi McMiller but she's another one from the Florence-Darlington area that is sick. The only reason I don't like our chances is because we are so loaded already.

Who got her like this? Taking about Milaysia. She reminds me of someone who just like to spend time a lone with her and the hoop thinking about life and goals and stuff. I was like that in high school. So most of that is just how she spend her free time I bet.

I am guessing you all have seen this one. They had the "Queen of the Court" as well won by our very own Zia Cooke a few years back. And the had 3 teams go head to to head in a 3ve 3 tourney. Zia was coaching our current and future players, chloe, Talaysia and Milaysia. Aaliyah was doing commentary and Paige Beuckers.

Another "as expected" blow-out for the Gamecocks (12-0) today, over Coastal Carolina (5-6), as they won 102-39. The entire South Carolina roster got ample playing minutes: the only Gamecock that played 20+ minutes was Ashlyn Watkins' 21 minutes, and she's a reserve.

Watkins responded by leading the Gamecocks with 16 pts on 7-12 shooting, with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Starter Zia Cooke added 14 pts on 5-9 shooting, with 5 assists. Reserve Sania Feagin added 13 pts on 6-8 shooting, with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Starter Aliyah Boston chipped in 11 pts in 13 minutes on 4-6 shooting, with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Laeticia Amihere also scored 11 pts in 15 minutes on 5-6 shooting, with 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.

Early-enrolled freshman Chloe Kitts came down from her debut high a bit, scoring only 2 pts in 15 minutes on 1-3 shooting. She added 3 rebounds and 1 assist. The typical big question mark for freshmen at any level, for any sport, is consistency, and Chloe is no doubt going to have that to battle with herself.

Overall the team shot 57% for the game, out-rebounded the Chanticleers 64-25, and added 23 assists, 16 blocks, and 11 steals. The bench out-scored Coastal's reserves 62-6.

The Gamecocks have now a full week to rest up, enjoy Christmas, and prepare for the conference schedule starting up: they next face Texas A&M Thursday next week....

In the last 8 games since the Stanford game - in which the Gamecocks went 8-0 - they've out-scored their opponents 81.9 ppg to 42.1 ppg. This includes a 73-64 win over top-15 UCLA. In those games, our bench has out-scored the opponents' bench 44.0 to 10.6 ppg. Our BENCH has out-scored our last 8 opponents 44.0 to 42.1 ppg. Not too shabby. - our last 8 opponents have not been that strong, minus UCLA and SDS........

Part of the reason our bench is so awesome is our starting lineup is good but not great. I believe any regulars to this thread could put together 5, 6, maybe 7 lineups better than our starting lineup. Not a big deal against most opponents, but as you point out we played tight games against the best teams on our schedule. I guess I have to trust coach on this one, but I admit I'm a little concerned our bench won't always be there to rescue us, particularly in the tournament where one loss and we're done.

Does anyone know how long Janiah Barker is expected to be out? I was hoping to see her play when A&M comes to town next week.

Who? On the roster?

Barker is a member of Texas A&M's roster. She was highly recruited by Coach Staley and staff, and chose Georgia over the Gamecocks. Then UGA's head coach left UGA to take over the Texas A&M program, and Barker changed her commitment to the Aggies....

Barker broke her right wrist in their game versus Kansas on Nov. 30. Reports were that she would be out for 4 weeks "at a minimum", so that means probably all of December at least. So our game next week on Thursday she would be greatly doubtful to make an appearance.

The Aggies (5-5) had been dealing with horrible roster depletion due to injuries this season. During exam week last week they had only 5 players to practice with, and at most have had 7 players available for recent games. They just lost to Purdue today 59-53 in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, and are 1-4 in their last 5 games when all the injuries started happening....

I just realized you were referring to the opponent's total points as a whole. That's quite impressive. This is by far our deepest team to date.
