Everybody has their own path. Sometimes people feel more at home in certain environments. I want people that want to be here genuinely.Dawn opens so many doors, not only while they're here, but long term career wise. I can't say the same for some other coaches. Spaces are so limited in professional basketball and you can't play forever. Sad to see young people unable to see the vision.
Regardless of your coach, NIL will be an integral part (not the whole part) of recruiting. We've seen other schools who don't know how to embrace it get left in the dust. Winning and coaching will always play a large role in decisions, but now NIL is an added piece to that.Everybody has their own path. Sometimes people feel more at home in certain environments. For example Louisville pulled out all the stops for Kitts and Fulwiley. They even had Jack Harlow a very popular music artist even highlight them at an on campus concert and they still chose us. Many of these kids can see beyond the flash and see whose real.
NIL drives some players but not all, I think it's unfair to assume that's solely why some kids choose certain schools though. If it is the case, then it likely won't pay off in the end. Money can only take you so far, if you have no real bond to the players, coaches or school then this just becomes a job and especially if you don't win it'll be a miserable experience.
I'm not dismissing NIL. Our WBB does quite well in that area much better than most by a good bit. I'm just saying it can't be the only reason for a commitment and expect long-term success with it. If that's the only reason I just don't imagine it ending well if that's the case.Regardless of your coach, NIL will be an integral part (not the whole part) of recruiting. Thanks, people seem to think that we are behind the curve on NIL. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Dawn has pioneered unique ideas and partnerships for the whole team. She is building a network with relationships throughout the BB/business world. When WSJ or Washington Post want to talk intricacies of NIL, they interview Dawn.I'm not dismissing NIL. I'll never get over it. You move from one stage of grief to another, but there is no complete recovery.I am still not over that game…nor our season. To be so close to winning the title…it still hurts!
Nothing concrete but Tenn coach just announced they got someone and now Jewel is following the whole Tenn team on insta.I am a minority of maybe one, but FEAR DA SPEAR fits our needs and rotation better than Morrow. She gives us two established killers from 3pt.
I staunchly believe we are already a final four team, add her and Sakima and IMO we are clearly the most talented roster in the country
Good Lord. That sounds more like losing a child. We'll have other opportunities.I'll never get over it. You move from one stage of grief to another, but there is no complete recovery.
Nothing can ameliorate the loss of the championship THIS year; it was ours to lose. That is incontrovertible.Good Lord. That sounds more like losing a child. We'll have other opportunities.
Have you recovered from the '84 loss to Navy?Nothing can ameliorate the loss of the championship THIS year; it was ours to lose. That is incontrovertible.
I thought I took it hard but being a long time Gamecock, I have learned to let it go and fight another dayNothing can ameliorate the loss of the championship THIS year; it was ours to lose. That is incontrovertible.
Not entirely. I've had to suppress it in order to deal with subsequent horrors that are bound to come. But what that Navy loss cost, or might have cost, is inestimable.Have you recovered from the '84 loss to Navy?
I can chew on a dessicated carcass while fighting.I thought I took it hard but being a long time Gamecock, I have learned to let it go and fight another day
You haven't gotten over it, despite any protestations to the contrary. You're the most invested man I know. No one promoted the prowess of this team more, and I say that with respect.

I think when they win the SEC and make it past the sweet 16 - then I would consider her extension earned…until then the program is just a shell of itselfIf this is true Kellie is earning her extension.
Something I will never say. This came out of nowhere I feel like! Everyone had her going back to Texas. Good for Tenn. I know she is very talented but a 2 guard is not what we need since we got PaoPao in my opinion.
I have gotten over it. Not gonna lie it took longer than my normal flushing it process, 3 days instead of 1. 30 years ago I made a conscious decision that the result of a sporting event would not rule my life.I can chew on a dessicated carcass while fighting.

I hope your perspective prevails in terms of legacy, I truly do. It would be awful if we have already seen the best. As for the propounding of various perspectives, I suppose we all have our roles to play.I have gotten over it. Football really helped me do it. How could I go to church the next morning and let a game ruin my encounter with God? How could I listen to prayers for a really hurting world and moan about my gamecocks losing.
I passionately love gamecock sports and especially the WBB Program. I am excited about next year and have more optimism than most on this board. Dawn does things the right way and she is 20+ years younger than Geno and Tara and 11 years younger than Mulkey. Time is on her/our side.
There are way more tall women now than there were 50 years ago. I've been observing.Need more tall women.
Sounds good, but I love to have Morrow and Walker.I am a minority of maybe one, but FEAR DA SPEAR fits our needs and rotation better than Morrow. She gives us two established killers from 3pt.

You are 1000% right. We should have won it anyway. We were that superior. No, I'm not letting questionable officiating off the hook, but we were vastly physically superior to Iowa.
I would not want to be holding that phone telling Dawn that she was backing out of a visit. Whew. That would take courage. On the other hand, I’m am sure having a phone call to say “no” to Mulkey would not be pleasant either. (Please know in no way am I comparing the two coaches. Mulkey may have won championships, even more than Dawn as of today, but I don’t think Kim could carry Dawna’s shoes…as a coach , leader or person.)You wouldn't think that would happen but money changes everything
She apparently cancelled her visit to us
She apparently cancelled her visit to us
I don't think it's all that serious. It happens all the time. Maybe she was just second guessing herself decision. If she already made up her mind, I much prefer she doesn't waste anymore of our time and cancel. So she needed 5 days after her LSU visit to insult Dawn and SC on the day she was to start her SC visit? Hope she doesn't plan to stay in basketball after her college days as she just disrespected one of, if not the most, influential, people in basketball. She may live to regret burning this bridge.
Experience doesn't always overcome highly skilled youth - which we have some of the best in the nation coming in!That's what it looks like. Hopefully we still pick up another big, preferably Walker. I still like the construction of our team we just lack the experience. I think we'll see a more fast paced and offensive minded team next season.
I agree the sky is the limit with this roster, we just don't know how they'll perform as the main stars. In many cases is was the bench that dug us out of holes or really separated us last season.Experience doesn't always overcome highly skilled youth - which we have some of the best in the nation coming in!
