I have seen HS teams close-out better than this. Worst defensive team I have watched this year, and I watch a lot of hoops. They do nothing worth a crap on defense, and it’s gotten worse as the year went on

I’ll take things that didn’t age well for $1000, Alex.

One game does not a season make… the 10 games they pissed away count just as much as today. Which is why Rhoades is collecting uniforms instead of preparing for the conf. Tournament

The defensive effort has been horrible. Today Dunn got hot as Wisconsin went cold.

Last year we were 9-11 in conference and had the most experienced team returning. Just Konan replacing Wahab which should have been a plus. Not much excuse for 6-14 this year even with the injuries.

Where was this version of Dunn in January? He’s been our best player for the last month, if he could’ve done that at the start of the conference season, maybe things would’ve been different. I wonder how much of it was Coach trying to be loyal to his guy Kern and putting him in the starting lineup

Agreed, but also one half a game does not a season make and that’s what your post was based on. Saying a team is worse than high school teams and that they’re the worst team you’ve seen all year only to have them end up beating the 12th ranked team in the country is a post that did not age well.

My post was based on what I have seen over the year. It was based on having been a coach for 25 years. Hopefully yesterdays win will carry over into the next game… oh wait, they don’t have one!

A coach for 25 years yet you call that team worse than a high school team…hmm.

They played well against WISKY. o_O , but it is hardly a stretch to say that they suck overall.

Agree, but the issue I have is after the Purdue win they were a best 30-35 teams in the country. What happened!
I'd say it's a combo of variance (we likely weren't ever quite that good), injuries to some guys that we couldn't afford to lose (and/or were playing sub-par through their injuries), not playing the style we needed to play due to said injuries, and a stretch of not playing with much confidence. In the end, we ended up a little better than I thought this season...I had us 17th in the B1G and we finished 17th, but I had us in the high 70s to start the season, and had us in the high 60s at the end; but we lost so many close games that it didn't show in our record.

whats your numbers difference between your 60th and 70th teams. I dont run numbers like you but I know enough that to me there is little difference between teams in that range.

It’s like 1.5 points in a neutral…it’s still high enough that there is a little bit that separates them…get to 160th and 170th and it’s basically nothing.

Interesting, I would’ve guessed about half of that number. Either way, a lot of people don’t understand that the difference between those last five or six teams that get in the tournament and the next 20 is really only one possession a game. It’s also why one or two big wins can get an 18 and 12 team in over a 21 and nine.

Has PSU formally stated anything with regards to a postseason tournament? They discussed during the Wisconsin game about that being the end of the season, but I'm pretty sure we'd have the option to play in the NIT if we want to continue (or potentially an at-large bid to the Crown).

Don't they wait until the NCAA tournament is set before announcing the NIT field?
